setting pinion angle

I got to weld new spring perches on the 9" on the 67 camaro cause i bent them last week at the track.

its a street car but I built it to dead hook at the track and do very well on a road race course. Just wondering what the best way to set it is. Its a leaf spring rearend with caltracs. Do I just set it at the same angle as the output on the trans, or do i got a degree or two down? How much tolerance do you have until you start to get vibes?
 
do the caltracs have solid mounts in them or rubber?

if using heim joints, set it to the opposite angle of the output shaft to driveshaft. if poly, go 1-2 degrees down and if rubber, go 3 degrees down. you dont want to point the pinion directly at the shaft though, its gotta mirror the angle coming out of the trans

the caltracs use heims, the front bushings of the leaf spring is solid aluminum, and the rear shackles use rubber.
 
i searched a bunch of sites and the general consensus is to set pinion 3 degrees less than the angle of the tailshaft housing
 
Trans degree and pinion degree should be the same and total not more than 5 degrees. The pinion should be pointing down 1.5-2 degrees.
You do know that any time you weld on a axle housing it makes it crooked?
