lengthy post... sorry just need to vent a lil
My neighbor across the street was one of many unfortunate people who recently lost his home to foreclosure...
Shortly after they came and cleaned it out, I hear what sounds like a car with exhaust out front. I look out to see a old 80s regal on some 20 somethin inch rims sittin in the driveway and a guy gets out and scopes out the house, then leaves. Im like okay, that was strange.
Well 20 mins or so later I hear some exhaust again although a different note. I look out the window to seem the same "Monday" backing a dodge ram up the driveway behind the house and this time he brought his sugar mama along.
I thought it was suspicious so I called my mother and asked her what she thought about the situation, then called my 80-something year old neighbor who likes to police the neighborhood and asked her what she thought. She thought that because sugar mama went inside with gloves and a bottle of some kind of cleaning agent that they were just from the bank and finishing clean up, so I let it go.
Well after they leave I walked around the back to see if I could tell exactly why they were there. I look through the window and see the built oven, counter top stove, and the sink and its plumbing is now all missing. I knew this stuff was left because the owner was a friend and asked us if we wanted any of it.
But it gets better.... I look at where there use to be a chandler above the dinning table. There is now a huge hole in the ceiling there liked they ripped the light right down and maybe by conscience it exposed the plumbing, but im thinking probibly not since the hoel was probibly 4" in diameter. He was probibly trying to get to the plumbing. So that happens, not much I can do about it now.
Were not done yet...
A month or so ago someone shot out the front glass screen door with a BB gun... prolly just some dumb kids driving by, seen the stickers on the window/door and just decided to take aim. Now there is a big pile of glass on the porch thats been there over a month. Several possibly buyers have come to look at the house since and yet theres still glass all over the place.
And finally yesterday we are sitting in the dinning room enjoying a nice mother's day meal and I look out the window to see a guy who is in his early to mid 60s ride up the driveway on his late model Schwin bike. Not looking too suspicious I just figure hes a nosey neighbor checking things out, so we go back to our meal. A few minutes later I look over and am totally shocked by what this guy is doing.
He is on his hands and knees on the driveway digging up the plants... Seriously!? who in the hell steals plants? We sat there in disbelief as he finished what he was doing then proceeded to get back on his bike and ride away with a handful of some plants he just dug up. The whole time I was just wishing they'd swing into his spokes and flip his sorry ass off his precious throw back Schwin.
Its just so sad to see this. I do live in Warren, but my particular neighborhood is very nice and for the most part very well kept up, then you see shit like this going on.
I personally think that with these foreclosed homes, putting those tags on the windows is an open invite for people to just come and take what they want since they know no one is there. That and the fact the bank that now owns the house hasnt been out to clean up the mess of glass... which ill prolly end up doing because im sick of looking at it. Im surprised they even have a lawn service come and cut the grass.
In the state the house is in, no one is gonna want that house except maybe some trash that put the house in the state that it is in now. Which would be real great :swear:
Idk this just all really bothers me how some people can just be so selfish and just do whatever they please. We've had our struggles, (ive been laid off work since Nov.) but you dont see me going and taking sinks out of empty homes to sell on craigslist. That and I am seeing all of this going on across the street from where I've lived for the last 16 years.
We took a $12,000 hit on the value of our home and was the first time ever posting a loss, and its because of where it is. If we picked up our house, dumped it in Royal Oak itd easily be worth over double what it is.
Bah... anyways you get the point. I hate our economy and the ridiculous things that people are doing.
