Selling your car to a dealer?

yeah I agree seems like they usually low ball you, KBB has been high in comparison to some of the deals I had in the past. Just make sure to visit a couple and get opinions. Varsity will probably be the most honest and upfront with you.

Love your ST sorry to see you are getting rid of it. Its crazy how many have gone up FS since the RS. I plan to pick one up soon.

Traded a few cars in to varsity ford. No problems. Fair price vs dealing with autotrader and craigslist morons

I figure it's worth a shot. I have a realistic number in mind that I don't really plan on straying too far from. If the offer comes close, it may happen. Did one of those quick offer things on KBB and they told me 18.6k. Shortly after, a local dealer contacted me saying in most cases they offer a significant amount more than the quick offer upon vehicle inspection. So I guess i'm going to give it a shot. I'm confident that there are zero issues with the car that will detract from the value.

See what they say. Walk if its a shit deal. You will prob get more money if you sell it outright to a private party but you might be sitting on it for a while. So figure you will make $2-4K less than private party price. Then factor in the time it will be on the market. Also factor in the age/condition vs. a what the cost is for a new model. Many incentives now plus Ford is offering A-plan to extended family and the Conquest program. It keeps the new units moving and the used units are harder to sell.

Yeah I agree definitely worth trying. PM Trunk or give him a call and Id head to Varsity. Wish I had more to spend on one Id pick yours up.

Just remember that they are going to give you a price that they can still make a profit on, no matter where you go. If it's worth $17k, they'll offer $13k so they can make $4k (or however their margins work out)

I know man. I keep getting these emails about the Ford A/Z plans. Now they're doing "aunt/uncle, nephew/neice" deals for A.

I tried trading in several while buying a new vehicle a few months ago.... I thought the offers were very low..... sold both immediately 8k more (combined) than they offered and kicked myself in the ass for not asking for more.... Phone rang off the hook as soon as I listed both... that should have been a clue to relist it for more.
Seems to be a demand for clean well maintained used vehicles.

my mom bought a new car dealer offered her 14,500 for her car on trade in, another dealer handed her a check for 17000 for the car, so shop around

I've found the KBB instant offer things to be high in every instance where I have gotten one and actually followed through with taking the car to the dealer. When I sold my Lightning I did use the offer as leverage in negotiating with the guy that bought it though.
