the bottom bolt doesnt want to come out. I got one side out after about an hour and fucked up the bolt alot. The other side is seized on or something. Any tricks to getting it out ? This is my first time doing control arms too. Surprisingly, the uppers were a snap.

anybody have any ideas?

thanks

i put an electric impact on mine and let it have it for about a minute and they finally spun free. keep in mind those springs are loaded and that arm will come out in a hurry if you're not careful

i have a jack under it, I just cant get the tension right between the arm and the axle, to where the bolt doesnt have weight on it.

i tried an air chissel, but cant get the angle right.

Ill heat the shit out of it today and try again after a nights rest. That seems to always help.

i always find that leverage and heat wins. piece of 1" or 3/4" pipe over a good ratchet, lots of heat and a box wrench on the other end of the bolt wedged against the frame

After you have the the spring out, remove the bolt from control arm to axle. Use hammer to pound the front bolt till it is flush with torque box. Then use a 3 ft prybar to get behind the bolt head in that access hole and pry the hell out of it.
Thats how I do it. You can borrow my prybar if you haven't had any luck yet.

I just went through what your going through Rick. Ive done many CA's in the past but none this tough. I beat the bolt so hard I ended up totaly remodeling the axle mount I f##ked it up pretty bad but fixed it with a c clamp and a BFH. I ended up spraying it with PB Butter and hitting it back and forth until it fell out.

Good luck :D

saws-all, be careful not to cut into the bracket. bfg with f**k up the bracket. cut-off wheel works too.

I couldnt get that bolt out, it was seized in there. So I jacked the arm up, and removed the upper bolt first, thereby dropping the spring, and releasing the tension on the bottom bolt. Then I had to soak the bolt in PB Blaster, and heat the shit out of it, and impact it while wiggling the arm back and forth to finally loosen the bolt from the bushing.

All set, thanks for the replys guys...

luckily my neighbor rolled by to see what I was doing, it was a ton easier with another set of hands to help line shit up and help out.

Thanks again dude, and damn cool BS'ing with you.
