Saw a Porsche 918 on the way in this morning. My only question is HOW?

So I was driving north on m5 this morning and at the turnaround after 15 mile road was a Porsche 918. I almost got rear ended as I slowed down to a crawl to stare at it. I didn't catch the plant but maybe a production mule? What an amazing looking car! $900k just sitting there! Figured I would share! Wish I would have got a picture!
 
Could be on loan for one of the automotive magazines in the area, and that it's out driving around indicates that is likely exactly what that baby was doing on the road.

Always cool to see exotics and supercars in motion. If you see one, you normally only see one sitting still. To see one rolling along is really cool.
 
If I wasn't in the right lane I would have stopped and asked the guy. At least tried to catch him. My thought to myself was how many people actually know what it is. I thought it was a Carrera GT which would have been a cool sight but not even close to a 918.
 
M5 has cool cars all the time. I ran across a McLaren F1 at 13mi going south once. Gave the guy a thumbs up, light went green and it was ON! Guy didn't back out until at least 175. Gotta give him credit. Not many people with $5M+ cars will run em.

Good thing I was on a Busa (snicker)

918 is a wicked ride, hopefully it was actually a purchased car and the owner actually DRIVES it instead of just letting it sit in a garage/living room.

I know the spot well between 13 and 275. I redlined 5th in my 350z there. I do see a lot of cool cars out here just none as cool as the 918 although a f1 would be close.
 
My boss has had one on order for a long time now, he is going to be one of the first to get one. When it shows up here I will take some photos. Looks like an amazing car.
 
Our DBA has a GT3 on order. he's taking European delivery. He said he's being told it should be sometime next year. Man I wish I had his problems.
 
Meh. Porsches never appealed to me. I never really considered them Exotic like a Ferrari or lambo.

I'd agree in some cases, but certainly not all. The Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1 are as good as it gets across any brand right now, IMO. And while a base model Porsche Cayman is a far cry from any Exotic, the 911 turbo's from any year have always been right in the mix.
 
The 918 is a Porsche owned car that was up here doing some kind of marketing activities. One of my friends knows a Porsche guy and got a ride in it. Apparently one of 2 in the US.

Ha. I ran into Seth at the frozen yogurt place near our houses on Friday and he showed me the pics. He was a little excited.
 
Apparently my buddies dad just bought one, traded is Carrera GT, the 918 cost him 1.8 mil apparently (CDN), not sure if he got some options or what it but I thought they were $800k us.
 
There are more than 2 here.
