How much money does the Susan G Komen foundation need?
I don't think I have seen any other organization have as many contributers as them.

That's a pretty asinine statement asking how much a charity needs.

There are few causes as worthy as foundations who support people with cancer and work to find the cure for cancer.

x2 Breast Cancer strikes many women as well as men each year... all the money they can get is needed to find a cure and improve the treatments

To even make a comment like that is just pathetic about an organization that does so much for both the patients and their families. Maybe you should research it before making a comment like that.

I would say they need as much money and support as it takes to find a cure. Breast cancer is a devastating disease that is affecting more and more young women, as well as middle aged and older. My friend was 32 years old, with 3 little kids and a new house when she was diagnosed. There are many worthy causes out there, but after seeing the hell that she went through for the past year, and the constant worry that she and her family face in the future, I have no problem giving money to the Komen foundation. If you choose not to, that's your option. But it's just ignorant to knock them for doing everything they can to find a cure!

My g/f has one of those shirts and wears it often. I'd be in for a 2x as well. I want to make sure my g/f's pair stay healthy.

UPDATE: Apparently just before I posted this for her she sold her last ones. She is waiting to hear back from her Aunt who is handling getting the shirts made about how long it will be until they get more. I will keep you all updated! :)

My mother is also a breast cancer survivor, but you know what saved her? It was a mastectomy, chemo and radiation, nothing from Susan G Koman. The reason I said"how much money do they need" is because of my mother. Her and I had a long conversation about cancer research, and where the money goes. It was her information that changed how I thought about S.G.K. I have no problem with charities, but the only one I hear about these days is Koman.

Im sure a lot of people agree...but I have never cared all that much.

I just think a charity should not have assets of 240 million dollars AFTER all the grants go out and all the bills are paid. There is no reason for a charity to hold back a quarter of a billion dollars...and continue asking for money.

As I already said "AFTER the bills are paid". IMO there is no reason for a charity to have holdings of 1/4 billion dollars. I can promise you that if I started a charity and kept about 1/2 the money in holdings plus keeping a nice chunk of money for for my salary, I would be called all kinds of not so nice things. Again, charity is great, but turning it into a big business with milliions upon millions in the bank seems wrong to me.

Did you research that to get those numbers?

In 2008
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® provided an unprecedented $100 million for scientific research and granted $193 million for
life-saving education, awareness, screening, treatment and support programs around the world.

I would like to see where you got those numbers. And as far as the foundation not helping your Mom... who do you think does alot of the research for breast cancer in finding treatments?

while seeing a charity grow so big is a great thing to see, it's sad to see one charity out grow the rest.

breast cancer is a horrible thing and should have all the research behind it but there are plenty of other charities that could use half of what they get. it just sucks that things are a little weighted to one side.

but hey, boobs are popular huh..
