satellite radio

Motown's uber nerd and fav Sweeeeede!
I've been pondering getting satellite radio for the car.. if you were buying nowadays, would you get XM or Sirius?

I have had Sirius for almost a year and love it!!! They are doing a free trial for two days over the internet and sometimes the do radio giveaways.
What do you like to listen to now??

They both sound like shit, but Sirius has much better radio stations in my opinion.

Agreed.. FM has better sound quality.

I have XM, and one thing that totally drives me nuts is you can find a station thats playing something you like, then the next song is something that makes you say "wtf is this shit?"

I have 6 or 7 XM's I don't even listen to regular radio anymore except HOH on Sunday

I have Sirius, if you have it hooked up right, it sounds like a cd or slightly better than regular radio. I love it. I have heard XM at friends and the 'channels' aren't as good. Not only that, Sirius has Howard Stern, and his show is awesome now that it is un-censored.

Sirius FTW

I agree with Lethal. I have mine setup and it sounds better than FM. If you get an average player for Sirius, you can pause, rewind and fast forward the music, so when a song comes on that you don't like, just go back to a song you want to hear again, then go back to the live point.

I also have the one where you can pause, ffwd, rewind etc. I love it if a song comes on that I dont like, I'll pause it, switch to FM to see if anything is on, if not, go back, by that time I can ffwd thru that song and get to live, and then search channels by songs. Its very cool.

i have xm and love it, quality is great, dont get a cheap unit though, i got the skyfi2 and i like that i can pause and replay, plus it displays way more info then some of the cheaper units i have seen, believe it or not i think through the store i can sell xm units (i just found this out a day or 2 ago)

Satellite radio has no static, but the sound is highly compressed. I guess it just depends on your listening tastes.

Agreed again with Bubba, exactly why I don't like XM. Sirius stations are pretty good, I'd have it now if it sounded better. Worse than 128kbps mp3s really.

i just leave it on 48 squizz for the most part, even have that on @ work, very little complaints about that stations (well somtimes customers realize its uncensored, but its very rare)

Hmmm... from reading this, I'm leaning towards Sirius I think.. I like entertaining talk shows, and would probably listen to howard stern alot if I had it. :icon_mrgr

I am against subscription anything, but after the three months free trial in the Trailblazer, I signed the two year deal. If you spend a lot of time driving, you will love satellite radio.

ya i did alot of research before i bought, by using the guys xm and sirius at work i found out that XM will and does play a good song then pull some crazy shitter outa its ass and that pissed me off, also, xm metal station sucks ass and they do however have some decent rap stations, sirius has AWSOME, i repeat, AWSOME rock stations, *buzzsaw FTW* and they have decent rap,

oh ya and sirius's country is damn good too, and if your a fan of the blue collar comedy, theres blue collar 104 on sirius which is all redneck comedy....

if i were u i'd go with sirius =)

I have them both, I bought Sirius for howard and have a newer gm truck with XM. After the free XM runs out I'll be putting a second Sirius unit in the truck. I like them both but the Sirius has a better play list imo I really didn't like the XM at first but once I got used to the stations I started liking it also. You can't go wrong with either one really, if you're a howard fan you'll want Sirius. It's awesome when you travel, nothing like listening to the same station from here to Texas if you want to do so. :D

I have Sirius and think it's fine, primarily the lack of commercials.

The stations are just like regular radio, though (aside from the above statement). You hear the same songs over and over based on popularity and endorsements. The hard rock station I listen to plays sappy ballads in the evening because that's what most people want to hear...That's when I switch to the uncensored comedy channel.

All in all it makes long trips go faster and you don't have to search for stations when you go out of town. That's nice.

I've heard a lot of people say they prefer XM, but the board seems to disagree. Perhaps Sirius has improved since I started subscribing.

I have had both and have Sirius now. My truck has XM built in and I cancelled it. I am a Howard Stern fan and thats all I really listen to.

With XM it's just like regular radio, but you have a lot more stations to skip through between good songs. I really have not listened to music on Sirius yet.
