First time ever on an actual sand drag strip. Forgot to bring the correct tire gauge, so I didn't go any lower than 10lbs. I also had a front shock come apart. Add those two things up and I had some crappy launches (1.9 60's were the norm). Had a great time though. Here's a couple videos....

For anybody that might be interested next year (they are having 1 more race Oct. 13th for a make up race that was rained out though), this is were we went.

The owner/crew were really nice, and are looking to bring in more customers so they were looking for input as to how to do so.

what were considered fast times in 300'?

My friends banshee runs 3.85 on a stock 350 bore cylinder.
Rob at RDZ runs low 3's.

Not really sure. The fastest "quad" there that day was what I believe started life as a trx250r, but had a ZR900 in it. I didn't see his dial in time, but he did run a drag only Jeep that had a dial in time of 4.27, and the Jeep left slightly before him (so he dialed in at something slightly lower than 4.27).
There was a silver Banshee there from Albright (I think that's what he said). I was told later it belonged to Doug Austin. Very nice looking quad, and damn fast as well. Didn't catch his times either, but I gotta believe him and the ZR900 would have been a decent race.

We can't make the Oct. 13th race, but we plan on hitting this track up more next year if you're interested. We also talked to them about renting the track. If I remember correctly, we were told something along the lines of $50 per hour for up to 5 hours, and $60 per hour for 5+ hours. Didn't matter how many people either, so that really could be a cheap 5 hours of grudge racing, etc. They said the lights and all would be on, so time slips would be handed out as well.
 
8.7's in the 1/4 for me came to about a 3.70 in the 330'. That's pretty damn fast (and I'd imagine scary as fuck) in anything on the sand!

I'll take that any day over driving across some oil on the track at 150+MPH :eek5:

It's sad to say, but I've broke more parts with this Jeep in the 3-4 years I've ran the sand, than I ever have in my years on the asphalt!

It's a mild pump gas SBC/th350 combo. With the mid 1.9 60's I was pulling high 4's. I'd like to go back with a better tire guage and get a little more serious launching off the transbrake. I was there to have fun as well, but mostly to let my oldest son play. He actually got a 2nd place trophy in the Jr. class for his very first time out, so I couldn't get the smile off his face all day.
I would have liked to see some Banshee's beat the ZR900. The guy seemed a little pissy if he didn't win.
