1988 RX7 Rolling Chassis + extra parts for Sale.
It has a clean title from Michigan, not salvage.
I am selling a 1988 RX7 SE 2+2. It’s a four seater with a grey exterior and a burgundy interior. It’s a 4 lug car, but I have the front and rear suspension cradles from a 1991 Turbo 2 RX7. This means you get the Turbo 2: Limited slip differential, 5 lug hubs, 4 piston front brake calipers, 4 wheel disc brakes, and a manual steering rack. I also have the yoke/u-joint from the differential end of the Turbo 2 driveshaft. I don’t have the entire driveshaft.
I originally bought the car disassembled. I was planning on performing a V-8 engine swap, but I don’t have the skill, time, or money. The reason I’m selling the car is that I’m a poor college student and I no longer have a place to store the car. I want to get this thing out of here. My loss is your gain.
Interior is mostly there and in good condition. All parts are clean & not faded, headliner is not sagging. Burgundy in color, but with a cool 80’s style fade in the seat design, Missing the front carpet and the cover for the door panels. The backing for the panels are still there, but they are missing the fabric/vinyl covering.
Original Rotary Engine, Transmission, and Radiator are sold, gone. However, I have the shifter, boot, and knob from the Transmission. I also have the original driveshaft, power steering pump, A/C pump, vacuum canister, and some of the other accessories from the Engine. I have an aluminum custom radiator specifically made to fit into the stock RX-7 radiator location. The buyer of the vehicle will also get this.
Original 4 lug aluminum rims. The car will need new tires. I towed the car from Dayton, Ohio to Detroit on the tires that are currently on the car.
I printed out the entire service manual (hundreds of pages), the training manual, and I have the Haynes manual. All will go with the vehicle.
Exterior and body of the vehicle are really great. There is very little rust and the body is pretty darn straight (one of the reasons why I originally bought the car). There is some surface rust at the sunroof edge (see picture). Hood and roof have paint fade and will need a new coating. Front right fender has a couple of minor dings and a scratch. Rear bumper has a minor ding. (see pictures). Engine wiring harness was cut by the previous owner. I think it was because the wiring is buried in the intake manifold and is difficult to remove. Body/interior wiring is complete and in good shape. One of the best things that the previous owner did was bag and label all of the fasteners and small parts. Should be helpful for reassembly.
I’m trying to be as honest as possible here. I don’t want to swindle anyone. I want this thing to go to a good home so it’ll turn to a badass car.
I would like $250 for it all but I’m looking for any decent offer because I want this thing gone. I will also trade this for a nitrous system or some slicks for my 5 lug mustang or maybe performance parts for a 302. Tell me what you got and we’ll work out a deal. I’d like to sell this as a package deal, but I might be willing to part out some things if the price is right.
