Royal Oak P.D

If a cop tells you to stop, it doesn't matter what you're doing or where you're at. If you keep going and 'pretend' not to see him, you're just asking to get tazed.

I was up at MSU a few weeks ago DJing a party and it got busted. There was a fat cop running after someone telling them to slow down so they could taze their ass, lol

come to think of it, one of my friends told me of a michigan grandfather law he ran across a few years back. He is trying to find the paper work on it, but the law states you can only be pulled over by a 4 door sedan. So only the crown vics or impalas. No chargers because Dodge classifies it as a sports car. No magnums, no SUVs and no motorcycles.

If any of you are driving down the freeway and a state boy pulls up behind you with no lights, get off the freeway. Whether its your exit or not. Or if you know your speeding and they have the gun out, get off the freeway. State PD only can get you on the freeway.

You are so so full of shit.

I used to believe that the justice system actually works until I got screwed by an a$$hole cop from Dearborn Heights.

I got a ticket for doing something that wasn't illegal. I prepared myself for the informal hearing by taking photographs of the intersection where I was ticketed, doing some research etc.

At the informal hearing (cop wasn't there and doesn't have to be) they read the notes from the cops ticket and they were completely unrealted to what I got the ticket for. At first I thought there was a mix up and they had someone elses ticket.

I went to trial (formal hearing). Before that I got a copy of the video from the traffic stop. Unfortunately, the cop had his microphone turned off. What a coincidence....

Before the trial, the city attorney and the cop approached me and asked me if I want to pay the fine and get the points dropped. I told the city attorney (with the cop standing right next to him) that I want to have a hearing so that the cop doesn't get away with lying and falsifying a police report/ticket. The cop was fuming. LOL

Of course no chance in hell I was going to win in court. Basically it was the cops word against mine. His main argument was that he's been a cop for 18 years!

What scares me the most is that this was only a traffic ticket. Can you imagine what a nightmare it must be if you are in trouble for something much more serious and the judge takes the cops word over yours? (which he will in 99% of the cases)

Sorry for the threadjack! ;-)

You have no idea what you are talking about....

I had a Meridian Township cop like that. Said my Mustang (on skinnies on front) was keeping up with a C5 Vette in the S-Curves through town and pulled ME over because I was "louder". I wasn't doing anywhere near 55mph to my knowledge and was going with the flow of traffic on my way to a shop so we could figure out what tooth gear I needed to make my speedometer work correctly. It took the cop a good 3-4 miles before he pulled me over. I was very kind to the cop and gave him my info and explained to him I was trying to go with the flow of traffic.

I went to fight it, with a receipt and the old speedo gear showing it was garbage, and an invoice from a shop, and at the informal hearing (mind you, I *had* a perfect driving record) the magistrate told me: "Speedometers are not a required piece of equipment on Michigan roads. Having one inoperable does not change the circumstances." She cut my fine down in half and gave me the points.

Mind you, this is the same police department that I went to court with as a witness when I helped them catch a kid who was convicted of assault and came in to my store with a stolen loaded hand gun. The kid even had a trunk full of stolen weapons. And they did me over like that with a ticket. Bastards.

On the other hand, the Sheriff was watching me one night (same Mustang) and I saw her come out of Dunkin Donuts while I was driving on her jurisdictions border.... I saw her coming and turned on my turn signal to go in to a subdivision which was no longer her jurisdiction. Right after I turned on my signal I got lit up. She pulled me over because she thought I was a "little loud" but didn't realize it was quote "hot rodded up" ... She checked my info, asked me about the car (in which I told her it wasn't by any means my daily driver, it's a toy car and with the nice weather I wanted to just go for a cruise in it), and sent me on my way.

can you both prove that i dont? A friend of mine whose relative is a a cop and told me about the thing with state cops. As far as 7-11 parking lots and what not, ive done it numerous times. That one cop that got your stang, each city has a grace point and its like a mile or two over the border. Its rare they follow but there is always that one dickhead cop that will.

Im on my phone currently so dont want all this to be jumbled together. Once again the 4 door sedan thing, a friend told me about and its a grandfather law. whether he finds it again is another story. But go on google and see how many retarded laws that are out there that someone created back in the day. U wont believe what was once created

formal hearing and always use a voice recorder when your get pulled over, cops attitudes change very quickly when they know, the meeting has the potential to be heard.

in that situation you let the cop know the event is being recorded? As far as marked vehicles go, i hate the cars that are marked with damn near matching paint.

I video taped a pullover, where everyone got breathalized, except me, and the cop never said a word about it.

You realize a State Trooper has jurisdiction over the whole STATE of Michigan? That includes the state owned military bases like Selfridge ANGB. They can go whereever and pull over people committing offenses anywhere.

They are not Highway patrol. Some areas of the state don't even have County Deputies/Sheriff patrolling, it's just troopers.

I don't have much more time to go over any of your other rumors but I'm sure someone else can.

i have a friend that is a cop, a friend that used to be and my ex-girlfriends dad is the ex chief of police in Mount Morris in Genesse county. So i definitely have had my share. But if the officer was in your driveway no lights and you got out of your car, he cant go after you. Any stops have to be made with lights on unless they are going to your house for disturbance issues that are non emergency. The moment you step out of the car your off the hook unless suspicion of alcohol/drugs or other illegal items.

Numerous times when I have been speeding and cops have been behind me I have pulled into the Mcdonalds drive thru or pulled into 7-11 and hopped outta my car and ran into the store. They can stare you down all they want, but cannot touch you. If they follow you out of the store and attempt to knock you for speeding, ask for a printed report or to see their radar gun. They have to show you otherwise your off the hook.

This post is so full of urban legend, it deserves it's own snopes.com entry.

yes joe i understand this, but State Troopers also have to allow those cities that have on duty officers to do their job. So if those large populated cities have city cops, then state officers normally stay away and act if city/county are not around when a violation occurs.

I love how things always are rumors to others unless a mass of people are agree or its posted on a well known site. Just cannot go by word of mouth anymore.

So why was I pulled over in my CITY by a State Trooper? I guess he forgot what his job was? :dontknow:

I can personally say I've seen a guy get pulled over in the city by a state trooper. *cough*chunkybs*cough* :D

last time my wife and I went to RO I filled up the meter and kept and eye on my Cell phone while we were in Mr.B's. When it was time to go back to pump more coins in I got there with like a minute left and the damn meter maid (meter dude) was standing at my car waiting for it to run out LOL
