My wife got a ticket on our street in Royal Oak, in our driveway, for going 10 mph over, as the cop claimed she was going 13 mph over. First of all, she swears up and down that she was not doing near that speed, which I tend to believe because a) she says she wasn't b) she's going to be 31 in November and she's never had a ticket. Second of all, she has a Fusion, and we live on a dead end street that's less than a quarter mile long. Unless she was wailing WOT the whole length available and then drilling the brakes to wildly turn into our driveway, which again, in the nearly 9 years we've been together, I haven't ever seen, I don't think it could even reach the quoted speed.

Anyways, the cop gives her the ticket and says "I'm gonna give you the ticket, but just show up at the court and contest it because I won't show up anyways and the judge will dismiss it." She's been sticking with this story for weeks waiting for her court date. So today comes, and she shows up, and over course the cop is there. The judge asks her what her deal is and she says "He gave me this ticket and told me to show up because they would dismiss it since he wouldn't show up." Of course, the judge indignantly says "No police officer would ever say that. Follow her and pay." Doesn't even ask the cop if that's what he said, and doesn't believe her claim she wasn't speeding anyways.

I'm so fuckin annoyed with the nickel and dime m.o of this city. They tore out those credit card reader parking meters REAL quick when they figured out they couldn't have some fat waddling fuck issue $$$ of dollars a day worth of tickets when people ran out of change.

Appeal it... Make them do a formal hearing... Have her swear in and show them what's up...

I could see you doing 100+mph down your street... But your wife? Fuck no...

Sorry to hear that. I have lived here for the past 13 years and for the most part have had them be pretty cool on most of thie things I have been pulled over for. Hopefully the city isn't turning to BS tickets to raise revenue.

RO Cops suck, the only way to get out of tickets in this City is to have a lawyer with ya. Southfield is even worse...id fight it again and ask for a jury trial

edit*

its also odd that they gave her a ticket being an RO resident. usually theyre pretty lenient if you have an RO address on your license. its the out of towners they like to mess with.

Another reason why i never leave home without my V1. What was the cop doing patrolling a dead end street anyway?

RO Cops suck, ?

Remember the women RO cop that pulled that Camaro over in front of the salon on Friday night before the cruise? That's the same one that picked us all out of Potbelly 2 minutes after the male cop waved at us. She was a biaaaaa!!!

Don't cops get overtime for going to court? Wouldn't that mean it's possible he's telling people that to get OT out of the deal?

"I'm gonna give you the ticket, but just show up at the court and contest it because I won't show up anyways and the judge will dismiss it."

This also happened to me out of Bloomfield Hills. The police do this so they get overtime. If they are in court, and not on the street, that's extra $ for them, I'd definitely take this to court.

In my case I met with the ADA when the cop showed, and made a pretty valid argument. I somewhat 'threatened' them with the idea of court. I said you can reduce the ticket (no points & lower fine) or I can setup a court date and waste everyones time and get the same result. At first he tried to keep the points and the higher fine, but I said its either reduced or its going to court. He agree'd and then said I should be an attorney! lol.
If you make it seem like you will be going to court, their tone will change. The Cities/DA's do not want bogus court cases wasting tax payer money to pay a cop OT.

The last ticket I got was from a westland cop that said he paced me doing 35 in a 25. I had my cruise control set to 25 the entire time cause I knew he was behind me. Fuck cops!!!!!

my son and his buddy were riding their bicycles downtown RO and got written for MDOP... of course we took it to court because it's a freakin felony and what 16 year old kid needs that? When we get there they offer probation and a fine and he has to go for drug testing and shit like that.. I looked at them and asked if they were kidding and that I would be at Fox 2 as soon as we left if they wanted to go that route and they came back with a civil noise infraction.... FUCK RO!

and I just saw fat ass meter maid this weekend.....lol!

It's all a moot point now because the ticket is signed and paid. Oh well, lesson learned. They come down our street fairly frequently actually. Not sure why, but probably because there's a bunch of lofts down here and we're by the train tracks so sometimes if there's kids messing around on the tracks they cut them off down here.

Fuck those meter maids! If you all do is walk around and issue tickets, why are you so fuckin fat! Do you carry hoagies in your pockets?

MDOP? Stories like this make me want to keep a digital camera in my car in order to record any and all police communications for court purposes

yeah I couldnt believe it either...RO doesnt want families with kids running around downtown... they want freakin same sex marrage couples to hold hands, drink and eat in the overpriced "bistros" and buy those stupid ass lofts... oh and buy pencils from the damn hairy christnas that bang their drums and block up the sidewalks....errrrr!:893Jedi:

sorry.

Not a bad thought, I know people that do it but you must tell the officer that they are being filmed/recorded even before they start talking. IMO that would only make them be more of a dick and write you up for everything the book allows
