What's a good router and modem for spectrum internet? Is a combo router/ modem any good or is it better to get separate units?

Get a separate modem and router.. in my experience if it has antennas it seems to operate better. Placement inside of the home is key too. DONT put the router behind a TV or fish tank, ETC.. Try to centralize its location.

Whatever the latest Motorola surfboard modem that is available and compatible with their service is what i would go with.

As far as routers.. on the cheaper end, but still quality, look at the TP-LINK Archer C7 or C9.. If you want to spend more money then check out the netgear nighthawks.

How much do you save per month with your own router? JW

My bill does not break down the internet/hardware price just shows one price.

Thanks for the suggestions.

As for cost for router rental, I'm not sure. I currently have uverse and it doesn't break it down either.

I think WOW is like $8 to $10 per month. I bought my own 6 years ago, well worth it. The Motorola I have ran me ~$100 at the time. It has saved me over $500 so far.

Separate units is best practice, though many get by with an all-in-1.
Start your shopping list from here: https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/compliant-modems-charter-network/
The Arris SB models are usually your bet, but stay away from any models that use the Intel Puma 6 chipset. https://www.approvedmodems.com/do-not-buy-list.html

Yep, but I never saw an all-in-one work decently on a home over 1000sq ft. Separates are definitely the way to go. Plus, when you switch services, you don't have to fiddle with anything. Let the tech call in your modem and off you go.

How many square feet is your home?

Will these work all right? No gaming, just netflix, hulu, etc. Just got Directv Now and will be cancelling cable.
