Roll cage prices

I might get banned for this, but oh well.

Lets start with how much is your life worth?. Seems like many lives are only worth $300.00 to $1000.00. You need to worry about the weld integrity, the bar placement and etc. Many roll bars/cages have bars that do nothing, they just look good. I would rather spend more money and be sure its done right. I want the chance to walk away if there is a accident, I want my kids to still have a daddy. How stupid do you have to be to cut corners on safety equipement?. Maybe I value my life more than others.

I agree 100% with you sir. I wasn't trying to get the cheapest work or cut corners. I was just wanting a rough idea of the price. Thank you to all that replied

no reason for a ban. very good points. and ideas that i share

point taken, counter point........

you dont always get what you think for your money.....sometimes

look up a thread on yellowbullet, called "anyone remember wes's outlaw car" or something close to that............ they 85/86 gt had a 25.5 or .3 cant remember, installed by a VERY well known chassis shop. inspected and certed by NHRA.........upon further investigation by DMC race cars........ummmm not so much. welds blown through, welds not complete. basicly DMC had to cut the whole cage out. pics are on DMC's website. ill do look it up and post links.

I agree but it still isn't changing my mind from doing my own work. I have invested a lot of time on research, I have the welding and tube bending experience. After seeing some of the cars rolling around the tracks running way faster than I ever will I am willing to take my chances. I once saw a car running 7's @ Milan that looked like RTV would have held the car together better than some of the welds.

I'll take my chances, I am pretty critical about everything I do. I might waste some material in the process but it will be right before I am done.

If you yourself doubt you capability to do something that's fine.

But to tell someone they are stupid, make an ass of you as well.

Bottom line is those very same guy your swingin from had to start somewhere.
With someones car maybe theirs maybe yours.

Tell me did you any of the work on your car? If you did then maybe you shouldn't have. You should left it up to people that do this for a living.

Maybe you are the ass. For starters I did not call you stupid. Why don't you tell me to my face that I should not work on my cars. Better yet, go tell Dave that he should not be working on cars.

Sorry for pissing in your wheaties. I do alot of work on my cars, just not the cage, chassis.

2ND. Nothing i would lose sleep over. so you do not have to apologise about pissing in something i do eat anyway.

3rd we do 95% of the work on our cars as well! And I Will say what was said to you to ANYONE that tries to discourage anyone that may have the talent to do something themselves vs having them off it to someone else.

Its funny to me.
You bypassed that hole point of what i said. Only to see what you wanted to see. Witch is fine to me, I still stand on what i said.

And my comment was to you! So Therese no need to go dropping names to try to stir up shit and pull someone else in something that has nothing to do with them.

Anything else?

I would be interested in a picture of your bending machine, and the mandrel dies etc. Do you just have the mandrels for roll cage tube or a whole range of sizes? These machines can cost heaps.

I have a JD2 bender, awesome piece of equipment, but I only have 1 3/4 dies. The benders reasonable price wise, its the price of the dies that will kill you.
