RIP Paul Walker

i read somewhere that the car was acting funny at the shop moments before, kept stalling when they were trying to back it in. The guy who was driving told the tech to get out and Paul said lets go for a ride.

Clutch is super sensitive off idle and they get roasted in those cars frequently. Not uncommon for people to stall them.
 
Sheriff's dept said they think there may have been another car involved...

How fast do you think they were traveling for that GT to disintegrate like that?

Here is a map of the area. My guess is he was flying around the curve and lost control. Notorious car for even advanced drivers. Roger raced in the PWC so he was obviously talented.

For those who care, I still couldn't figure out why the car basically "exploded"... I mean catch on fire I can see that, but the amount of damage that was done to the car was insane.

They hit an exposed natural gas line :(. I didn't see that once, in the articles that I had read.

Could it have something to do with the car's construction? I've heard that some of these mid-engine supercars are built for the back half of the car to separate itself from the passenger compartment in a serious accident, but idk if that's true or not.

Do you have a source for the natural gas line thing? Or is that just speculation?
 
I thought someone said that it wasn't a natural gas line, but a water line for the sprinkler system. Not sure if there is any concrete information one way or another, though.
 
The fuel tank in a CGT in right behind the driver & passenger seats - in front of the engine mounted on the bulkhead.

They struck the pole sheering the car in half and dumping fuel everywhere in the process.

Not that it mattered. Id be shocked if they lived past the impact.

I had some sources last night, unable to find them now, but SoCal gas?? said there are lines in the area, but the one I was talking about is a "sprinkler" water line. I just didn't think it would do that much damage, as well as seeing wrong information about the fuel tank being in the front of the car.

autopsy on his body said he was alive and breathing when he died. So basically he burned alive inside the car. The driver died instantly on impact
