Replacement windows

It's time to replace some of my 40yo single pane windows. Any suggestions or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I got mine through Home Depot... They are made by Anderson but under a different company strictly for Home Depot... American Craftsman... I got all the options... Fit and finish was perfect when I installed them... Didn't have a single problem at all... They are reasonable in pricing... The rest of the house will get them when the time comes... So far I have about 6 of them and no issues at all...

Whatever you do DON'T let Hanson's or Weatherguard into your home... high pressure, scumbag sales tactics.

Renewal by Anderson has a really nice product but they are crazy expensive! 4-5 times the rest.

Wallside was the only one that was no pressure. We ended up going with them and we have no regrets so far. They aren't the BEST windows out there, but they are 100 times better than our 45 year old rotted wood single panes and the price was unbeatable.

I would also consider some of the pella and anderson ones at lowes and home depot, but the window is only as good as how it's installed. The sub contracted installers they use would be a crap shoot.

Just my $0.02

Find someone who does pressure testing on houses to verify efficiency. They can tell you who's windows leak and who's don't.

X2......True, very true!

I got my replacement windows from Champion Windows, Boston West. They manufacture and install their own products. Got direct factory savings from them and a further discount because we replaced all the windows in our old home. They did a good job, too but I’m not sure you’ll find them in your area. Google and see.
