Remember when......

I use facebook about 90% for car and racing stuff. If you're not on it, you're definitely missing out on some racing news, some interesting automotive events, and deals on cars and parts.
Me too. I don't want FB drama, so I have very few non racing friends on there. Mostly grudge racing stuff and automotive related groups.

the best day on MM was when the PINKS episode was being shot and we were getting updates via posts from REIKO and Others.

Yeah, not something I want and haven't pulled the trigger to drop it..I just got your join request... I'm denying it!!

yeah but we have over 1400 members there. We should start using it promote stuff, post nudes, ect. :D

The MM Facebook site is a totally different animal for me.
On a Forum, you can have a running gun battle of a conversation and come back to it days later. Some threads on here are YEARS old!! And you can search a topic when you are looking for something specific. On FB, it you put it down for a day, you have a heck of a time finding posts. The more friends and inputs you have, the harder it is to find anything.

My counts have gone down on both. Biggest reason is my project count is way down. The car is pretty close to where I want it. The barn is going into a phase there I won't need much advice...

I will still lurk on both. I've made some friends here and I really enjoy watching Saso fend off the unwanted advances.

A good example..110 members that i can see by name have read this thread so far, that doesn't include the guests that have read it.

This is me also. Stay up on race, car, sled news. My FB name is fake because I don't want all of the friend/not friend drama. No desire to put my whole life on display. All of the other comments about FB posts being buried after a couple days are spot on. Pretty sure FB was intended for 12 y/o girls with a 5 min attention span.

LOL

I've thought about opening a FB account with a fake name too. I had one under my real name a long time ago, and I got a ton of friend requests from people I went to school with and such. I immediately deleted it. If you want to be my 'friend', call me once in a while (or text, back then it wasn't as popular). I've had the same cell # forever.

I just have less and less time anymore to spend doing anything online. I still pop on here once a day just to see what there is to see.

I still keep MM logged on all day at work, pop in here and there to see what's up. When I joined in '08, there was wayyyy more car stuff. I've met some great folks, and met some good friends here, mostly through buy/sell, or meeting at the track. FB, to me anyway, is for reconnecting with old friends that I otherwise wouldn't have the chance to. I'm more involved in cars now than I probably ever was, but there's just less interest here these days, so I don't bother posting it up.

It's still habit for me to pop in on occasion and hit the new posts button. Definitely isn't what it was before Facebook. But like Raj said, in the car world now there is a ton of news, deals in all these groups they have on FB
