Remember college?

well i am gonna be running for office soon, as long as everyone gives me a buck, i might be able to buy some tv time in between the majic blender and never dull infomercials on tv late at night for my campain.

But then the argument will be going to the track and racing is more safe than goind to get drunk, then driving home? Im pretty sure I havent heard anyone argue against that point:lol:

Honestly, I've been through the engines program here and I wouldnt either. We spent like 2 hours on rotaries

whats so hard about it, its 2 roundy triangles attached to a camshaft looking crankshaftnthat spins them around inside combustion chambers shaped like bathtubs. theres 2 combustion chambers with 4 plugs, with a timing split between each pair, and the trailing plug fires a wastespark ignition. its a 79ci engine but runs like a 2 stroke so its really more like 159ci.

whats so hard about that?

Is street racing a problem? Doesn't it really put the drivers of the cars involved at a higher risk than say the average driver? At first glance you would all say yes, of course it does we've all seen the news reports about these kids driving recklessly though our streets with no regard for the safety of themselves or the public in general. You read the papers right? You see articles all the time about this craziness. Thank goodness we have are local law enforcement on the case, heck California has passed law after law to stop these out of control people. Isn't that great what a way to spend your tax money. Did you know most of these so called street races take place late at night when most of us normal people are asleep? Most street racers go to great lengths to only put themselves at risk. They wait till the late evening to start gathering sometimes till 1 or 2 in the morning, they aren’t meeting up at 6 pm when you are driving home from work. Sure racing is dangerous but there are some things that you will never stop. Man having contests of speed dates back thousands of years, is it something that will ever be stopped? I doubt it.

So the question is how dangerous is street racing? Let’s compare it to another driving problem that has gotten a lot of press lately, drunk driving. What does drunk driving and street racing have in common? If you listen to a typical media report they are just as problematical. Actual in California it seems they feel street racing is a bigger problem than driving drunk, if you get caught street racing not only do you get arrested, fined, your license revoked but they take your car and crush it. They crush your car! If you are caught driving drunk “Generally speaking, a conviction for a first offense may involve a fine, a license suspension or restriction, attendance at a DUI education course for a period of time and probation for perhaps three years.” They don’t take your car? Maybe that’s because Drunk Driving is less dangerous, let’s take a look.

“ from 1998 to 2001, there were 315 fatal crashes involving street racing, and 399 fatalities occurred in these crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration” Wow 399 deaths that is a number that demands attention, if we break that down that’s an average of around 100 deaths per year. Lets take a look at drunk driving deaths in 2003 there were 17,013 deaths. In 2003 there were 42,643 total fatalities, so 40% of those were alcohol related and 0.2 % were street racing related, that’s 1 in 527. You are 216 times more likely to be killed driving drunk than lining up at a stop light. To put that in perspective “The surgeon general estimates that more than 400,000 deaths are attributable to smoking annually in the United States.” 400,000 people a year, can that be right? How about over eating “A study by respected researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Cancer Institute found that being obese accounted for 112,000 deaths in 2000” I see people smoking and over eating everyday, so where are protectors, the police? Oh, smoking at Dunkin Donuts.

It is good to see that our tax dollars are spent on real problems; don’t you think the police should be spending more time stopping drunk drivers that bothering the car enthusiast around America? There are a lot more dangerous and destructive things these people could be doing than hanging out in parking lots and lining up at a stop light once in a while.

According to this
from 1998 to 2001, there were 315 fatal crashes involving street racing, and 399 fatalities occurred in these crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration.

Traffic deaths on Labor Day weekend average 481 over the last 6 years

I sure as hell would!!!

the reason you take lesbions to a street race, or track is simple. while drivers are bickering back and forth at a street race, with a few bucks and some smooth talking you can convince them into making out, fondling ect...

at a track, when someone wrecks, you have good, if not better entertainment for the moment until the track is cleared. its quite simple...:icon_mrgr

hey your whole speach lies above, just copy kens post and "slightly reword it" so as not to steal kens idea or statement. see i kinda helped...

True, but generally during a speech, there should be a valid point:P

Anyways, isn't this supposed to be a TRIBUTE speech? You want to pick something to tribute, not argue for.
