Hey guys I'm looking to do a thermostat and timing belt on a 2006 A4 2.0T any good shops around? I've taken the car to the Rochester dealership for small things and most of the time it was covered under a recall or extended warranty. They are quoting stealership prices on this debating whether i want to attempt removing the bumper to do this or finding another shop with reasonable rates.

Wherever you go, make sure they are reputable. There is no room for error on this job and if done incorrectly you will not make it out of the parking lot because as soon as you crank it you will smash valves.

I am very good with Audi's and actually have a video series on Youtube showing how to do various jobs, including the head, timing belt, etc...

You may want to try it yourself so that you can ensure it is done correctly. I got my Audi for a grand because the woman took it to a shop for a water pump and when she left she smashed valves.

They have to be familiar with these cars or you need to walk away. There is a shop out in Waterford called Steves European auto that I was referred to. I've never been there but I did talk with Steve and he was a very cool guy. Check him out, he has a solid reputation from what I understand.

I agree I don't want this job done at any shop, either someone that works on these cars or the dealership. Do you have a link to those videos? I saw a DIY write up would be interested in seeing a video

Mine is on the 1.8t but it's pretty similar. I just checked and I only have videos on cylinder head breakdown, valve replacement, timing setup, and how to bleed the cooling system.

Here is a really good video I watched when I did mine.

I have a buddy that owns a shop that does VW/AUDI/merc/BMW pretty exclusivly. But he is in farmington hills. Let me know if you would want to drive it out this way to get it done.

Thanks guys and those were some great videos i think the part Id be worried about the most is the bumper lol... I wouldn't mind hearing the other shop's name Mike.

i can have my bumper off problem free in about 5 minutes, no joke. It literally snaps right back into place.
