Heading out on a trip to SoCal soon, SanFran through to SanDiego), have a decent amount of free time and wondering what car related things to do?

Couple things I thought of already:
- peterson museum
- hot rod garage
- original socal speed shop
- jay leno's garage (don't know if you can actually go here)

Would love to hear some suggestions from those who have been before....

Thanks MM

You have Southern Cal covered. On your way out of the Bay area: Laguna Seca. Bruce Griggs has his shop right at the track. Bruce Canepa has shop and museum somewhere around there. It's not "car related" but very near there is Monterey Bay and Carmel. Camera required. That part of the country is just awesome.

Definitely go to the Peterson. The gas light district In san Diego is cool as well. I'll also suggest Bob's big boy in Burbank on Friday night, That's their cruise night and you'll probably see Leno there with a lot of other cool cars.

Mercedes benz restoration is Irvine

In and Out Burger

If you like French dip sandwiches Phillipes in Los Angeles

Huntington Beach On tuesday Night

Not car related but was always a favorite of the wife and I when living there; have dinner at Ruby's at the end of the Oceanside pier. Also make sure to eat a few Eribuerto's carne asadas for me! You could go and find where the famous Carlsbad Raceway used to be :-( That's where I made my 1st ever pass down the 1/4.

Also not car related but a must do; LaJolla tide pools and Mt. Soledad if you can find the road that takes you up there.

I have tons of pics on my FB page of things like this from our visit back out there in 2012.

Pretty sad I lived there for ten years and can't think of car stuff other than the Winternationals and swap meets at Pomona.

If you are at all into off-roading you could head out to Ocotillo but it's pretty early for that to be hopping.

Have fun, and enjoy the congestion!
