Rebuilding the coupe!

Any new pics, Joe?

Oh, alright Keith. :icon_razz

I drug the car back home this week and started work. The trunk got a repaint to match the new inner sheetmetal to the old. I have another NOS right side quarter glass to replace the broken one, so they are installed. I reinstalled the rear seat firewall, and just picked up carpet today to get that area covered up again, and also had to recover the headliner(it got torn during removal...). I have the master cylinder and brake lines back in, and have started the front suspension. The new front wheels/tires are here, so I may be able to get it rolling and steering this weekend too. I went with the M/T one piece fronts, and really like them. Hopefully this goes together pretty quickly, since it was already done once and it's just a matter of hanging parts back on. I'll keep the updates coming!

Looks sweet Joe. What rears did you get? Keep the trak stars and buy one?

Yep, I'm still waiting for the 1 rear Trac Star wheel to show up. I may eventually switch to the M/T rear wheels too if they start offering them in the size I need, but for now I can live with how the fronts and rears look together.

How bad is the damaged one? Reason I ask is I would like to throw a tire on it for mock up. Possible?

The rear rim off the right side is hit pretty hard and cracked in several spots around the outer lip. It won't hold air in a tire unless you throw a tube in it, but I suppose it could be used for mock up if you want to try. It's 15" X 12" with 6" backspace.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Perfect, exact size I think I need. Can I grab it whenever I get out there? I'll return when done and bring beer to cover rental fee??

well......having seen it in person, the pics really don't do it justice......the whole combination looks fantastic. hell, if we hadn't slowed joe down last night, we'd probably be watching a "start-up" video of it today.....

LOL! Nah, still a ways off from that. Thanks for making the trip to deliver those clips I needed though, once again you da man!

I did have a busy weekend, and the interior is pretty much complete again. I recovered the headliner, re-carpeted the rear seat area, have all the interior trim installed along with the shifter, chute cable, belts and window net, etc... It's ready to set the front and rear glass back in now. I get carried away with details, like painting the door striker brackets and installing new striker bolt plastic sleeves I got from latemodel resto. It may not make it faster, but I do sleep better at night knowing I didn't bolt on a beat up part :icon_surp.

Still didn't get the front wheels/tires mounted, so it's still rolling on the casters (but not for much longer). I'll try and get the front suspension buttoned back up in the next couple days.
