rear end hit spare tire well on launch??

In the past I have launched the car pretty easy cause I am on drag radials. Put ET streets on the car and launched it pretty hard and HEARD a pretty large BANG...
THOUGHT it might have just been from such a hard hit on the launch. (nope)anyways...this morning i did my oil change and inpected the rear area. noticed a pretty good dent in spare tire well area right where the rear diff is coming up and making contact from hard launch. I dont think this is normal.

My set up is this.

Steeda DA uppers with solid axle bushings. Global west lowers with spherical ends. 5 way adjustable shocks. Mach 1 rear springs with .50 coil cut and finally Roy's axle braces.

Iam GUESSING...the shocks are DONE..(6 years old) because the compression is not holding...car only has 9500 miles on it BUT mostly at track.

opinions???????? solutions???

:dunno:aftermarket rubber snubber maybe... that thing must be squatting pretty damn hard lol or just test and tune with the shocks at differnt settings

yeah...it hits hard for sure. I think the car might be telling me a BFH might be needed for "clearance"

No big deal, it happens to any car that is lowered. Just launch hard a few times and let it clearance itself. Nothing will get damaged.

If you want to get ahead of the game just dimple the tire well a bit with a hammer. You only need a little bit of room.

No big deal man, honestly, it happens a lot. If you had a stock cover I bet you would be fine but the additional meat on the aftermarket covers for the main cap supports always hits on lowered cars.

Mine hit like 3-4 times then never hit again.

If you want to test your shocks, set them as stiff as possible and see if it hits. MY QA-1's on full stiff do not allow my rear end to drop at all on launch.

EDIT......are those Global West lowers length adjustable?? If so do you have the rear end pushed back??

no...the GW's are the standard ones with spherical ends. I was actually thinking of changing everything to team Z stuff and selling this stuff. My tokico's are on 3 on the left and full stiff on the right (5)...I just wonder if I might need new shocks??

I dont think shocks are the problem its real common for a lowered car to hit the spare tire well. I suggest doing some clearancing with a BFH thats what we had to do on our cars

thanks..I just checked my rear shocks and for some dumb reason I had the rears at full loose. My car isnt really "lowered" per say...maybe a 1/4 " lowered in rear MAX. It doesnt look look lowered at all.
Iam going to "clearance" this weekend.
:)

Does it have a stock rear cover or a aluminum braced one? The after market ones often hit

is it squating?
remember. "girls squat, race cars should not"

^ LOL...that's great. I agree, it shouldn't be squatting that hard. Do some research on how to measure the instant center of your car, then see where you're at and what can be done to improve on your set-up.

I've never seen a 4 link set-up ever have instant percentage rise, they al squat first on the hit, might not be much maybe 1/2" but they do squat then start to rise.

MINE HIT 1CE!!! then i blew the trans sold the combo and 2 years later.......im working on it again lol im scared now cause im gonna run a fuel cell that it mounted in the trnck with the floor cut around it i hope it dnt hit it :(
