rear brakes........

i have the wilwood street brakes up front. and need to order my rears since it takes 30days from jegs!!! :rocketwho

think i would be ok using drag brakes in the back? since most of the braking is in the front, my thinking is that i would be fine. some cars come from the factory with non-vented rear discs.

just looking to see what a few people think.

the reason i am getting them from jegs is, i am getting them for about $170 less what anyone else can get them for. sorry but thats reason enough for me.

I run the drags up front and the street on the rear. Here is my reasoning why: I will drive it on the street a lot and I have pizza cutters on the front and they will lock up easily in a panic stop. I placed a adjustable proportioning valve so I have a little more bias on the rear where the bigger contact patch is.

We will see how it works out. My buddy did the same and says it is great.

I know of people driving around with the drag brakes on all 4 corners (street driving) with out problems. just gotta be careful not to be hard braking like panic stops all the time.

my opinion is you'll be just fine

and I agree with Pwraddr as well, regarding brake bias with wide and skinny tires, standard bias will lock front skinny's up quick

alot of people that drive on skinnies all the time run an adjustable prop valve on the front instead of the rear

only problem with more brake out back, is that when the chassis reacts to braking, the rear lifts and the front end dives. not good on the street in a panic stop. dont want to swap ends on the street!

my last car had Aerospace drag brakes all around and after awhile they warped. thats why i am spending the extra $$ on street stuff.

Actually, it is the opposite.

That's why you need an adjustable prop valve to get balance.

Anthony,

I have Strange Pro drag series on all 4 corners and I have not had a single issue with driving them on the street.

why not just wait then install them when they are avail? Do you need to drive your drag car in 2 feet of snow?

Well if I install parts now, in the winter I can spend my summer driving the car. Instead of working on it. Is that a new concept? If it is, I would like to take all the credit for discovering it.
