question for a roofer

I got three estimates for a new roof, going with one company that gave me a quote for basic shingles, for an extra $950 I can get thicker shingles that weigh 10 pounds more per square, but with the same warranty.

They are supposed to last longer and provide more insulation because they are thicker. The original quote is CertainTeed Landmark, the extra $950 would buy CertainTeed Landmark PRO. It's a 1500 sq ft house with a two car attached garage.

Not sure where you got quotes from or where you live exactly but i would contact Matt Zimmerman (the same detail express matt who sponsors here) but he is now working for Arnold Roofing & construction 248-634-0189.

i've had a few clients use them for some storm damage and just replacing their roofs and couldnt have been happier.

question...how long are you going to stay in the house?

less than 10 years ? cheap out ...

more than 10 years... go with the higher grade shingle ....

if you are Downriver...

Usually the “ pro shingles’s) have thicker nail strips, and hold up to higher winds, might even lower your insurance rates.

Eh, I don't know if that's good advice, because... unless you're leaving the house SOON... if you get the cheapies, any prospective buyers will have an inspection and then play the "It needs a new roof" against you. Been there, done that.
