alright well im on this site a good amount just dont post too much. but im thinking i got bit by the muscle bug, so heres my dilemma. i have a 93 ranger splash daily driver and it has a misfire, something in the head cause im not getting any compression in the cylinder but thats not important. i've been thinking more and more about just doing a v8 swap, so if anyone on here has any tips, has done it before and has any pros or cons to it, or if anyone just has anything they wanna chime in feel free so i can try to make this decision. thanks again

Here you go.:rockwoot:

im assuming he has the 4.0l v6 which is the worst engine ive had in a car EVER.... i had a 93 ranger too. both heads cracked, it wouldnt surprise me if thats what happened to yours too.

anyway, i looked into doing the swap and its pretty easy. ill have to look in my archives but i know there are companies that sell and the mounts for the swap and all you have to supply is the engine, trans, and driveshaft.

ill help you out with it!

My friend had a 4.0 danger ranger and the engine ran real well when the trans let go at almost 200k on it.

Ive done a few many years ago...we used injected 5.0 mustang engines with a t-5 (cars were originally sticks, so it made it easier)
older mustang headers worked...i think they were nick named tri 5 headers? 67 mustang?
we used motorsport 8.8 axle housing made for rangers that used the original axles and brakes(motorsport catalog 8-900 bucks or so)
mustang radiators with electric fans in front. slightly stronger f springs, new driveshafts from dynotech, exhaust had to be custom bent, dual mufflers turned on a 45% angle or so, made up custom shifter levers.
we tried to use everything off the mustangs to keep future parts purchases easier.
trucks were everyday drivers, 12.70-12:90 capped with street tires 25+ mpg. completely stock engines. not sure but I believe one went to Arizona and the other is still around here somewhere. had to be at least 15+ years ago.

thanks guys, and detroit gearbox thanks alot. yeah i was thinking about going with a fuel injected 5.0 motor. i mean im not going for the fastest truck, but im thinking about just swapping the 8 in and having some fun, but also making it a dependable daily with as much mpg i can get but also as cheap as possible because i wanna just get this done because im building another truck which is already banking pretty much all of my spare money

use headers from a explorer v8 and and the oil pan and what not. I hear it is easier to put a 350 in one. I almost bought a 96 not too long ago for like 2400.
