Question About Foreign Car Ownership and Insurance

A co-worker lives in Germany and will be coming back and forth quite a bit for the next couple years. He wants to buy a car and register it here using his German address and license. Can he do that and still get insurance, or is that impossible?

wouldn't be possible with any of my carriers and none that i know of.
 
Probably not going to work well. Usually the car is insured where you live, roughly...
Let me know if he needs a place to keep it while he is not around.
