PV clerance help

its been awhile since I played with a 302 but I could have sworn a stock pushrod was 6.25" but those heads may require a 6.4. only way to know is to rotate the engine and make sure the roller stays centered on the valve the entire time.

From what I could tell from looking at it while spinning it, it stayed on the valve through the entire rotation of both intake and exhaust. I do know that they are longer than stock.

staying on the valve and staying on the center are 2 different things. Im sure its fine but just make sure or you will be taking the heads off and replacing the guides.(ive made the mistake before so I speak from expierance)

.080 min on the intake, .100 min on the ex. you will have to fly cut the pistons if you only have .050 on the intake.

you positive the camshaft is installed correct? did you advance it at all?

Not advanced at all. I had it in the car with the stock heads.

It appeared to be centered in the center of the valve all around.

You said you got this kit from guy..Did he have it running???

Yep. They are parting out the Mustang to buy a paint job on their Z.

I know that .080 is the min, I am just thinking that I may have done something wrong, like with the adjusting of the rocker, that may give it a lower reading which is why I need the help. I am pretty much in a position to not strip the motor down to have the pistons cut.

Yeah and get the damn car out of my driveway!!!! Cmon guys give him a chance

just kidding Dave

big cheese I think you mean .120 stick .90 auto

Tom
Yes, didnt I say that... My Bad...also add .30 for Alum rod..
.120 is used for stick because of possible over reving or float..
But in this case as Mike said 80 in 100 ex...he only has 50 which is not going to be enough..
Good eye..Us old guys cant remember everything!
+1

.080 intake and .100 exhaust is a good rule of thumb with a steel rod. Another thing to remember is to make sure you are checking with zero valve lash...just my .02...

good way to "zero lash" on a hyd is to jiggle the pushrod up and down while you're tightening the rocker down. Once you lose the movement up and down give it a half turn. check it there.

what year shortblock? A 1.90 valve w/ a TFS 1 should clear ok.
