Putting Dumass to sleep. RIP Dewey.

Dumass's small battle with kidney disease is coming to an end this early afternoon. I was waiting for a sign from him to tell me it's time and he did yesterday.

He started showing signs of kidney issues in July. From then on it was IV bags and alltenagel everyday. Lemme tell you, sticking an animal with a very large IV needle everyday is not fun.

It's just so odd scheduling something like this. We're going in at 12:30 this afternoon. :(

Everyone that met him, instantly fell in love with this cat. He was like a dog in a cats body. He visited Santa a couple years back at Petco and had all these dogs barking a storm at him, he just sat there all calm like. Used to take him for walks on his leash. Yes, he would walk on the sidewalk with it. Had some guy across the street walking his dog while talking on his cell phone, tells his buddy to hold on, then yells over at me "Are you walking a cat on a leash?!?!" Loved going for car rides. Loved going to my parents lake place and he would just sit on your lap in front of the campfire. Seriously, Dumass was the shit

We only got to spend 5 of his short 6 years with him and I know I gave him the best life I could offer.

Old pics from a couple years ago when he was a healthy 12lbs... he is now 6lbs 4 oz.

Awww, sorry to hear. Sounds like a great pet and that you guys gave him a great life.

Thanks :) It's just so odd to schedule something like this. I lost it on the phone while setting it up. We're going when they don't have too many appointments and the vet that he saw will be there.

In case anyone is curious how I got the name Dumass... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMe3WDmxBEI"]YouTube - A&W Rootbeer Dumass[/ame] and trust me... he WAS that name for sure haha crazy cat.

I'm very sorry to hear about your cat...I agree with everyone on here....it's never easy losing a pet. My thoughts and prayers with you.

RIP

Losing a cat is no easy deal. Just know putting a suffering animal down is the most selfless act you can do for the pet.

I'm so sorry. You have done more than alot of people would in caring for him.

[SIZE=+1]Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Well put Shelly

Thanks Shelly :) My grandma has that poem that I framed for her when her cat passed.

The vets was nothing but the best. They've been great thoughout. If anyone needs a good vet downriver, I recommend Southpointe in Allen Park.

I know he's in a better spot living it up. I'm just lucky to have that little guy with me.

Still the worst part was calling and making the actual appointment. How do you schedule that :(

I couldn't stay in the room.. but I know he was in good hands.

Ive had to do the same thing a couple of years ago. Took my cat in the middle of the night and they told me he was in a lot of pain and there was nothing they could do. I sat there with him for 15 min. crying like a baby. My thoghts are with you.

I just saw Marley and Me and it made me realize that my dog is mortal and will have to be put down someday. Not looking forward to that as he's been part of our lives for 10 yrs now.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
