pump gas or race gas?

I don't know about it being "cool", but I'm a pump gas kinda person because I usually put as many miles on my cars as I can in the summer time.
like orangejuiced86 said though, I'd say a lot of the decision is based on what the goals for this motor are, and is it N/A or what?
For 1,000 miles a year though, I'd almost say screw it and just run good gas.

I don't think it's "cool". My thinking was if I didn't need race gas to run what I wanted it was just a waste of money. I knew I'd leave a little on the table when I built my motor and I was fine with that.

Now if I was building an all out race motor I'd build it to run on race fuel.

ok here is what i am building (going to spin mtr about 7200?)
408 cube (roller mtr)
afr 205 heads
super victor intake
pro sytem carb
big shot plate (proably going to spray 250 or so!):mmm:

c4 trans with brake
coan convertor 4800 stall



my goal honestly is i would like to go 10.00's or high nines on mtr alone! this is my first ford build! i alway's had mopar's and chevy's before!

my s-10 i just sold went 9.90 on low comp! (225 shot) 406 roller mtr
my old duster went 10.40 on 150 shot! 12-1/2 comp. 440 cube solid lifter!

Sanderson just build it for race gas. It is not like you are going to own it long enough to put 1000 miles on it anyways. Maybe a few dragstrip passes and you will be selling it. Just my $.02...

I bought the short block from livernois for $3500
street car, 85 mustang
n/a 10.30 at 135 on M/T drag radials with 93 oct.
Never had it tuned with the carb.

TFS-51402002 Rough idle, strong top-end power. 3,000-3,500 rpm stall converter, 3.90 to 4.11 gears recommended.
Compression: 10:1 minimum

236°/248° .359/.372 .574/.595 110° :stupid:

I agree. if you are only putting 1000 miles a year on it why even consider pump gas. As far as going just as fast on pump gas do you really think a 10.5:1 motor on 93 can actually run as fast as a 14.0:1 motor on race fuel? Gimme a break!

At 14:1 the fuel gets pricey. it all depends on what you want. If you dont want to worry about who has a sale on VP race fuels and you like being able to fill up anywhere then pump gas is it.

Personal preference is what its all about. Think about your goals and go from there.
