Found my bell housing looking like this.

Needless to say I was surprised. All bolts were tight and the trans was secure on the dowls so I have no idea what could have caused it.
Guess its time for a new trans to go behind the LS

Hard to tell from the pictures, but if the damage is infront of the pump, you could cut the rest of the bellhousing off and install a JW Bell

ever break the driveshaft? also what kind of motor mounts and trans mount are you running? if you've got rubber clam shell motor mounts and anything like a solid mount, the torsional stress can cause the bell housing to break like that. and super bad body roll like g bodys are known for can do it but you'd have to have a hell of a motor ect.

Never broken a drive shaft.

I had poly engine and trans mount. My frame is boxed too, so I would hope the chassis is not twisting to bad. The trans crossmember was solid mounted though.

Pump may have broke? U should be able to fix that with a jw bell. If ud like more info I can give it to ya. I should be able to fix that for ya if you'd like on the cheap.

I am looking at going with a TH 400 for my new engine anyways. Might just sell the converter and chuck the rest.

Ask allthrottle about that, He did that i think 6 times in his S-10 all with TCI transmissions. I think it all ended up boiling down to engine and trans alignment.

DAMN!
Nice work man, if your going to break it, you might as well do it right.

Gald you got that out of there before it did some seious damage man

Huh.. I learned something new today. thanks.

I had the same problem with my old TH350, but I had ruber motor mounts, and poly mounts for the trans...cracked in almost the same spot as his....changed to poly mounts for the motor for the TH400...its fine now.

Sure!!! you go and spin wrenches and dont invite me over. See what happens?!?! i hope you leared your lesson!!!
Next time call me so I can help take the trans out with a prybar and 2 bolts left in it. :D

Solid steel mount on the trans ( i saw you listed a urathane one)
Very out of balance engine/flywheel/converter/ Example-if the counter weight on a chevy 454 falls off the flywheel-it will break like that....

Note: very nice glob job plugging the kickdown cable hole....lol
