This is gonna be a long post. lol.

First off, Game Informer (I have a subscription) did not put the right guy to review this game. I dont think he is a true fan of the Aliens saga and Preditor series. He states that in Predator mode, stealth is the main focus and it's too much. Duh!! The Predator is all about stealth. He also says that it's boring to fight off hordes of aliens. Yeah...its awesome to fight hordes of aliens. He also bashes the Marine campaign saying that its hard to see and not fun. The Marine campaign is specifically designed to scare the crap out of you. Its set up as a first person horror shooter. Environments are dark and creepy, hard to see (you always have to have your flashlight out) and there are creepy sounds and stuff jumping out at you. I 100% believe that the game designers at Sega and Rebellion made the marine campaign like this on purpose. As soon as you reach a part on the map that feels safe, your forced to go back into a dark corr-door. Also, he says that the motion tracker is annoying...I however find the motion tracker to be scary. It only picks up motion. So what happens, is, you'll be tip toeing along waiting for something to jump at you and all of a sudden your motion tracker will pick up something to the side of you, or in the distance. Then it wont read anything. Whatever it was just stopped and is waiting for you. That scares the crap out of me.

I havent played the Predator in campaign yet, but the Predator on Multiplayer is a blast. You can go invisible whenever you want, have multiple vision types, and you have some bad ass claws. The alien mode is also a blast. You can run really really fast, climb on walls, focus in on enemies and do a rush attack on them, etc.. It gets disorienting sometimes from running all over the place 360 degrees.

Also, the types of multi player modes are fun. They have a mode I like called Predator hunt. Its where everyone is a marine and one person at random gets selected to be a Predator. Whoever kills the Predator, then becomes the Predator. Species team deathmatch is fun to. All three species are placed on a multiplayer map and team up to duke it out with each other.

The trophy kills are pretty sweet. This type of kill is where you grab an enemy (if your a alien or pred) and do a gruesome finishing kill on them. Its awesome because you can sneak up on your enemy from behind and execute the kill. One example is this: If your a alien, you grab your enemy, lift them into the air and drive your inner mouth through their skull while their screaming and blood is going everywhere.

The graphics are OK. Not the best, but they do just fine. I have a serious problem with comparing every FPS to Modern Warfare 2. Its really unfair to do that though, since in my eyes MW2 is just about the best damn FPS game ever. MW2 is a much better game than AVP, but I'm not disappointed at all that I bought AVP.

The downside to AVP? Well..graphics could have been polished a little more. The characters on the screen seem to be a bit cartoonish and not truly fluid in their motions. I wish it had more multiplayer levels. Other than that, its pretty good. I suggest renting it first before you pony up the 60 bucks to buy it though. I think if your not a serious aliens or predator fan, you may not like it so much. I have fun with it though. As a matter of fact I just went to the living room right now and my 12 year old is playing it. He just stabbed a marine in the chest with his alien tail. lol.

To me though......this game is a teaser. I'm waiting for Aliens:Colonial Marines to come out. Should be here by the end of this year. That game's story goes like this: It takes place right after the movie Alien 3. A team of marines is sent to LB426 to find out what happend to the space marines that went down to the planet (as seen in the movie Aliens). They encounter aliens and have to fight their way out using teamwork with all the people in their squad. The graphics look amazing, the fire fights look killer and the levels seem to be top notch. Rumor has it, the levels in that game are to spec with the facilities in the movies Aliens and Alien 3. There is even a level on the Sulaco (the big space ship that the marines were at in Aliens), and the game designers actually got their hands on movie blueprints so the level is an exact replica of the movie.

Whew..that was a lot of typing. I'm going out to dinner now.
 
T&A thanks for the info. Sounds like a fun game will definatly have to rent it :applause: On another not.... REALLY??? Is this all the PS3 players we have here???? :jawdrop2:

Mostly FIFA '09 - I stink, but I play. Not even sure I can still play online with '09 - haven't played in a while.
