Protein powders

Does anyone know if the powders are still good after the expiration date or for how long, and could it make you sick, or just not be as effective? Also, does anyone know of any protein supplements in a pill form?

From my understtanding, they just lose their effectiveness... but they arent that expensive, so it may be good to just replace it... or mix it with a fresh batch. there are some "quick shot" type products out there, but I dont know of a pill either... I think that for protein to be efffective it needs to have some quantity to it, and I dont think that you can cram enough into a pill...

as a side note, the best Ive ever used/tasted is the cytogainer.. made by the same company that makes muscle milk... but that stuff is too rich tasting for me... and doesnt have enough protein to use as a main supplement, maybe as an addtional filler though.

If anything you'll just get a case of the trots or a wicked stomach ache. Thats probably about it.

Pill form, that would take a lot of pills to equal one scoop of whey. Think about it.

how bout 7 years...lol. Also, would you recommend whey or soy protein. And I'm not trying to increase my protein for work out or gaining muscle reasons, i just can't get enough protein in my diet through eating. Any recommendations, that aren't super high in calories.

7yrs I'd pitch it.
I use whey, and I think it's 120 calories and 23or 25g of protein. Watch the cholesterol and fat from calories on some brands.

I use whey as well, and no-explode with sigma 6 and others...

reading off the whey container in front of me its..

120 calories
10 from fat
1 g total fat
30mg cholesteral
3g total carbohydrate
1g sugars
24g protein
140mg calcium
60mg sodium

25g enzyme blends...

YOU knew I had to post on here. Whey doesnt go "bad per say"...but is subject to heat. It does have a expiration date due to the fact it is still a food item and with moisture will spoil over time. It will not lose potency over time but it will degrade because of the natural of the process used to make whey isolate.

As far as pill form...YOU can find BCAA in pills but would need to take 30 pills to equal 1 scoop of whey.

MALES should stay FAR away from SOY protein. it is an estrogen based plant byproduct. It is the waste from soy bean conversion. JUNK. MANY..MANY...MANY studies show males who consume soy protein have LOWER test levels than males who dont.
Take a good look at MOST males who consume soy and they will look "Soft and spungy"...Soy creates female fat patterns (hips, lower abdom, lower back)
bad stuff.....

Use casein powder at night and whey during the day. Good source of casein-cottage cheese. (it is a slow acting protein where whey is quicky digested).

BRANDS: all depends on WHAT you like. taste is subjective. I use optimum nutrition 100% whey..mixes in water easy...taste good enough...
But remember, I drink it out of choice because of the amount of protein I consume daily. (450grams)

good luck

Damn, I can't even get in 30 grams

that is like 1.5 scoops of whey or 1 8oz chicken breast. Iam sure you get it in. Eating is a job...stay consistent and you will make good gains. I know ONE thing that helped me. I drink 2 scoops as soon as I get up in the morning. Iam talking BEFORE I do anything.
Alarm goes off...stumble to the kitchen...mix two scoops in water...slam it down and THEN start my day. I get 40 grams before I even think about it.

get in that habit and you will do good
