***Proposed Idea***

I like the idea of incorporating it with the member of the month. Pick a "member of the month" and then see what they need help with, assemble a group that can help and find a date and time that works for people.

Setting a few locations for options with a date/time along with any other details would need to be established.

People that would like to be a candidate would need to propose there project up.
Give a very brief summary of the project at hand (don't forget to include purpose/goal), general location, & other valuable information.
*Pictures may be able to convey more effectively than what a long summary can achieve. It’ll let people helping gauge the time they would be able to obligate for the event.

Once all the projects are proposed, votes from the active forum would decide the selected candidate and from there it would be communication between the helping group and selected candidate to make it all happen.

Love this idea, could be what I need to get back into the hobby. For now my car just sits waiting for work to be completed while I am doing other things because of the time I'd have to set aside for it. Also a great way to share knowledge.

Not to seem pushy but what's the next step on this idea? Life is to short to delay. I have read a lot of post on this forum that refer to people's best memories of a car being the time spent working on it with a father, child, freind, whatever the case. So let's help somebody get to that point. I know how good it feels to hear a project fire up for the first time or make its first pass. Maybe the long time high ranking members could choose someone or already know who could use the help. In addition if the person picked does not have a facility or garage that could accommodate the project maybe another members garage or shop could. I just hate to see this idea sit in limbo when spring is fast approaching and we as a group could help.

That is the whole thought behind this. I all-to-often see nice project cars sitting in a garage with piles of boxes on them. I always wonder what the last straw to that project was.

I think the biggest thing is getting a small group of people so someones garage/shop etc isnt flooded with members.

That sounds like a solid plan.

This is pretty much the exact reason for the idea. I think something like this could potentially breathe some life back into the forum and club.

I dig the idea. As of right now, I'm putting my available time into getting MINE back on the road. Once it's running, I will be happy to help.
If we go with the nomination / member of the month / process, mine will be done before we pick the first one.

What needs to be done with yours? Location?

Im sure a nomination process might slow things down a bit. Seeing as we have had a few days, Im betting that people are starting to blow the dust off of the projects.

HA! I could probably have mine done by sunup if I really wanted to kick it. Might need a couple of 5 Hours'...

Just to answer the question: Drop in the radiator, put the X-pipe in, put the driveshaft in, hook up the clutch cable (It came off the quadrant too!), re-install the STB, put water in it, make a few adjustments, and fire it. Of course, I am probably leaving out a dozen small details, but that's what they are.

For the record, I am 12 miles south of Metro Airport. Yes, I am on the opposite side of the world from most of you.

I'd be down. I'm swamped right now with personal projects & side stuff, but in a month I should be more open. I know of a black 67 chevelle that needs surgery......
