Project "Taking to damn long"

Thought I'd share these after I went out to see the car yesterday.

This is my dad's car he's been "having painted" for the last 10 or so years. Turned into a little bigger project, plus the guy doing to work doesn't seem motivated. But from my understanding he does really good work so my dad is dealing with it taking forever.

The last time I saw the car... (About this time last year.)

When she's done it'll be like this. Someday......

Looks like a clean body rust wise. What's the specs? Eng/trans, etc. I noticed it has the SE rear window plug. You got an extra left front fender? I need one for the Challenger in my garage.

It's a 70 S/E 340 4bbl/auto car. The wheel lips in the 1/4 had a small amount of rust. The guy cut out all the rust and put in replacement panels. Other than that it is a very solid car. I keep telling my dad that I can have somene else get the car done emense amounts faster and still do a fantastic job on it but he looks at it like doctors don't get involved in another doctors work sort of thing.

Eventually it'll be a .060 over 340 mildly built and a 727 behind it with a decent gear for streetablity. Trying to keep it as close to original as possible, no major modifications, just a nice summer cruiser that he can run down the track a handful of times in.

Sorry Drag-ula, Got no extra parts. As it is he's going to have a small furtune spent with Year-One and other parts providers to get this thing back in one peice.

No prob. Just thought I'd ask. Try to stay away from Year One. It's convenient , but the markup is HUGE. If you do some homework, you can usually get the stuff they carry much cheaper.

Never hurts to ask. I figured Year-One ws a bit crazy on their mark up. The guy doing the painting has whined about weatherstrips the last three times I ws there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think he's far from ready for weatherstrips....

Yeah, that's a ways off. Even before I started restoring my car I was collecting parts. I knew if I bought them all at once I'd go broke. Hell, I had parts I sat on for years before I could use them. Just pick up some stuff here and there and shelf it until it's needed. I still wound up spending a fortune when it was going back together though. You can't put shitty parts back on a nice newly painted car.

Yea I totally agree on stock pileing parts over time versus all at once but why buy weather strips now for them to just dry rott by the time this guys got the car ready for them?
