project midnight

Cool! It's nice to hear about a father/son project. Good to hear people are still teaching their kids how to use their hands for craftsmanship, not gaming. As for the wheels, I really dig them. I've been hoarding the old straight bolt pattern slotted mags for a while, and I polished one up to look like chrome. It took me about 4-5 hours, and that was taking it from a machined finish. Starting with one that is already smooth would take a lot less time. I have some pics if you want to see it, but I'm not gonna hijack your thread. Good job on the truck!

Awesome project for you and your son. Enjoy it!

Paint the grille a dark grey color. I think it'll compliment the darker color really well.

That dark color would look cool on the bumpers as well, and help carry the theme over a bit more. I'm not a big chrome fan, so I'd do the shiny bits in something other than chrome.

ok now I want to lower it more!!!

I want to put a speed shop logo on the doors any one have a line on somebody that could make a stencil for me?

Very cool! I agree, the dark gray would totally set that look off. Look forward to more pics in the future as it progresses.

Update!!!
I know its been a while but Im finally moving forward !!! going Gas Monkey garage on it

drove to Norwalk ohio and scored a 04 Towncar front suspension essentially the same as a crown vic only it has cast aluminum lower control arms as opposed to vic's cast iron

also have a new engine and trans combo scored a 1971 400 and a C6 trans 71 & 72 400's were rated at 265 H/P with over 400 ft. lbs of torque
and are 9 to 1 compression
by the time I install a RV cam and a 4 barrel intake it should be over 300 hp and close to 500 ft lbs torque

but I'm undecided on the rear help me choose

I have a 3.73 31 spline posi 8.8 out of a explorer
and a 3.08 open IRS from a Thunderbird
both have disc brakes

cant decide if I want it to handle like a new mustang or be able to out run one

The IRS would be really cool but would need a bit of performance to spice it up. It would probably be a good gear for the build. The explorer axles are a great start too.
