Project boosted snake.

So the story begins with me picking up a nearly spotless and rust free rio-red 97 cobra. Found the car on craigslist having a motor noise. With as clean as the car is, couldnt pass it up. For 3200 $ I loaded the car onto the trailer and brought it home. After a removed valve cover and a decent amount of tinkering, I decided I was better off pulling the motor to get a better idea of what is going on. My plans are to use the stock forged crank(possibly kellog if funds allow), manley h-beams and mahle 18cc pistons, minor head work and shortened runner intake with imrc deletes. The big part of the project will be installing the 80mm single turbo. I will update as progress is made. For now, here are some of the latest progress pictures.

The left cable broke for the IMRC on mine. The left head was mess. Have the plates welded up or find some deletes.

Sounds like a cool project.

The 96 Mystic I just bought has a Hellion 76mm kit on it. My 03 with the twin screw makes power quicker on the street but when the 76 comes on it pulls like a freight train. Now I understand the turbo hype......

I'm getting ready convert to COP on it, I would look into that for yours.

Right. Everyone at my work right now is trying to talk me out of building a turbo car (because theyve built so many.... not). Ive read into cop conversion and heard mixed reviews. Seems more aesthetic than anything.

The question is now... to recondition, buy a new or used crank?
