Production Volt... Would you drive it? or Prius the 2nd?

Yeah, until you forget to plug it in that one night... lol... Or your power goes out... Then you have to throw gas in it! :D

Wait, the Volt is a hybrid? I thought it was 100% electric... now if it had gas as backup, I'd drive one. I wouldn't spend more than 20k for a car that looks like a Prius however.

I think it looks great.

Definitely a great concept and I hope that GM can pull it off. I would never have to buy fuel, unless going on a road trip with this thing.
Averaging 12k miles/year with a car that get's 35mpg, at $4.20/gal, it would save over $1,200. A vehicle that gets 15mpg (thing city driving), a savings of over $3,300.
Not bad, not bad.

I dont understand the benefit? 40 Miles on a overnight charge? How many KW does it take to charge? Im willing to bet that 40 miles is gonna cost 6-7 bucks to charge, so where the savings? Also dont try the green thing all a electric car will do is move the polution down the street to somebody elses back yard so its 40k, costs 6-7 bucks to go 40 miles yes real money saver there

my KWhr is currently .20 so assuming 8-10 hour overnight charge 1.60-2.00 now southern california is .33 per KWH (cars main market) so 2.5-3.5 to charge Not to mention those are EPA drive cycle numbers not real world driver numbers I figure the car will get 30 miles on the charge and 35 MPG on the gas motor?

What the fuck? 40 miles? Only if my employer has a power outlet in the parking lot, or I won't get back home! :shake:

Im sure some day in the future their will be power outlets for your new electric car and a 2nd outlet to charge your pink phone
