4/9/12 - A motorcycle crash this morning in Genoa Township has left a Howell-area man dead. The accident happened shortly before 7:30am on Latson Road, just north of Grand River Avenue. Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte says a 2008 Jeep was southbound on Latson Road, when 55 year old Howell-area resident Mark Steven Gebhard made a left turn onto Figurski Drive near Gold's Gym. A preliminary investigation indicates he pulled in front of a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle heading northbound on Latson. The motorcyclist, identified as 26-year-old Ryan Lewis Oesterle, was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts were made by Brighton Fire Department personnel to resuscitate him. Bezotte says they are continuing their investigation, but at this point drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved and Oesterle was wearing a helmet. Latson Road was closed in both directions just north of Grand River for more than three hours, finally reopening at about 10:45am.

11/12 - A memorial fund has been established for a 2004 Pinckney High School graduate killed in a motorcycle crash on Monday morning. “The Ryan Oesterle Memorial Fund” has been established at PNC Bank and donations are being accepted to assist his family with funeral expenses. Friends and family say the 26-year-old Oesterle was a devoted father and all donations will be used to help pay for his burial and funeral. Anything left over would go to his young daughter Natalia and additional fundraisers are also in the planning stages. The Sheriff’s Department has not identified a formal cause into the crash that occurred on Latson Road, just north of Grand River but says preliminary investigation showed Oesterle’s motorcycle struck a 2008 Jeep sport utility vehicle that may have turned in front of him. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. A Healing Farewell will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Borek Jennings.

so sad RIP
I have lost a few friends that rode and each time it wasn't their fault.

Must be something about the time of year. I got hit on April 13 and the days prior to that I was almost hit several times, and twice in one day I was almost hit when a semi merged into my lane and then again when I taurus did the same.

Something about people forgetting that bikes are on the road. They get used to them not being around and don't think to watch for them.

I never had as many close calls throughout the year as I do when spring first hits.
