powder coating oven

Just buy an electric oven off craigslist and buy a harbor freight gun if you are just going to do your own stuff. If you plan to get something going, you are gonna have to drop a few $$$$ on a gun and then a lot more for an oven of good size.

The downfall to the cheapo gun from HF is it makes a huge mess and wastes lots of powder.

thanks guy's I think I will buy a eastwood hot coat gun need a oven big enuff to do rear end housing's so maybee 4'x4'x6' or even a little bigger.anyone know of a place to get plans to build one

The hot coat gun will do just as good as the HF and cost more money, They both waste and make a mess.

Kyle and I built ours. Its 72" long 40" high and 31" wide.

Its already to small, Im already getting plans together for a walk in.

The HF gun does a good job, it just wastes and it is messy. To get a good gun you are gonna look at about $1000, there are a few on the market that are mid level you will just have to look around and do the research. You could prolly get away with using the HF gun for a while till you get the hang of stuff. Just keep cleaning up after yourself and dont let it get bad.

As far as the oven I dont know what we will end up doing with it. Its kinda like your first car. Together we have at least 100 hours into making it and another 20 or 30 into coming up with a plan before construction. So its kinda like the cornerstone, lol.

You best research is www.google.com just spend some time loking around and see what other people have done. A few questions you have to ask before you plan on doing it at your house would be....

Do you have ample electric running into the garage? Every over outlet runs a 220v plug, so does our compressor.

do you have dedicated room? it takes a decent amount of space to be able to strip, prep and powder an item. A 1 car garage would be hard not to contaminate other projects.

I could also take a look at what you have and give you a price and turn around quote. I relize that you are looking at just doing it on your own, but switching companys (be it me or some one else) might be the fastest way to make change. The least you would be able to do would make the time from now till you get up and rolling more tolerable.

PM me if you have any more questions, I'll try to help if I can.
