Your engine was a high compression, 427cid, with a carb and aftermarket ignition, etc. You can go 9's all day with a 427 ford small block....hell the LS is basically a copy of the ford small block but with better heads....and you can get aftermarket SBF heads all day long for cheap.

Don't get me wrong, I love the LS engines and will probably always have one.....but it's definitely not the only way to go fast, and if you're going to put a carburetor and shit on one you might as well keep the SBF in it. Lawn mowers are the only things carburetors are good for.

If your black 82 hatch with the e.f.i zo6 motor had a carb on it maybe you could keep up with a carbed z06 motor ??

:lol: Are you serious with this? You're old enough to have raced in the 80s and 90s as I did....so you should know that other than the grand national, the GM cars got their asses kicked by Mustangs repeatedly that whole time period, until the LS engine came out.

That car never had a Z06 engine in it while I owned it. I don't know what's been done to it since I sold it, but there sure wasn't a z06 engine in it when I sold it.

The LS7 heads and intake are bad ass. If I were to build one I sure wouldn't put a carb on it unless it was a full on race car. And if it was a race car, I wouldn't be using stock heads off of anything.
 
Chevy vs Ford.. boost vs. NA..

Here's a hypothesis.. the biggest bang for the buck is what becomes the popular swap. I like the Coyote's, but I think time will show that the cost to mod one of these (4 cams, not sure if adding cubes is all that feasible, but that's my ignorance) will limit the popularity of using these in retro-swaps. Yes there will be guys putting them in older cars cause they are are newer, but I think it's safe to say LS is so popular due to the power out of the box, and the parts off the shelf there are to mod them. I'm a fan, I've done 3 LS swaps already.

Raj: " my lawnmower has a carb".... you sound like another friend of mine when he sees my car.

My stock factory LS block with stock factory crank,, stock factory rods,, untouched LS factory heads with factory rocker arms,, factory lifters,, factory timing chain and gears,, crank driven water pump with a mild hydrolic cam with 4 mufflers and pump gas with a carb went 9.61 on motor.....9.10`s with a 100 shot letting off early........lets see a stockish sbf do that...on motor....

WE? You have a mouse in your pocket? YOU won't race me, last time you did you sprayed us and we were on motor and whooped your ass for 500, poor impala. Your old car, that was a z06 motor with more compression and more cubes than a 427, actually 429 that HAS NITROUS on it. I have an LS3 in my car ALL MOTOR and i asked for the leave, yes. And it is EFI, 60 hp down from a carb car. Guess what, i asked Lucas to race this year, and i have a smaller motor and wanted no part me on motor and he on nitrous.

BBAAAAAAHA That was not for 500 it was for 200 ...call your brother....and my poor Impala only lost by 1 or 2 cars to Vals race car.........but that don`t matter i had a blast and gained some friends ...
i think that was the first time or 2nd time going to the east side...

Correct 429ci. ......Raj said 427 not me.........If you want to call 11.4 compression high then go for it.........Maybe Lucas is thinking that you put Vals motor in your car ?? He knows that you 2 are brothers.......also he sold the car.......he also said to watch out for him in the summer....nice guy...

spray to motor, except you had the 2 bottle trick, we were on motor and it was a race car? We drove it everywhere..... only way people will race nowadays. I have the same motor the car had last year, just a different intake now.. How would i have vals motor in the car if his is for sale? How do i have a front distributor drive engine, fuel injected in my car? If you want to place a bet, i'll drive over today and crack the motor open with you.
 
My "race car" that I drove to the track (and ubly for that matter) with et streets in the trunk, ran some tens on motor with an lt1 and drove home. You sprayed to my motor what was supposed to be a motor 2 motor race and bragging about being 2 cars behind? Probably more like 3-5 cars but not here nor there. Oh and I don't remember the money, my feelings did not get hurt so I can't remember how much...
 
We dont have to live in the past or talk about someone elses car beating Leo. You have an ls going in a mustang, what a coincidence Leo has the same thing. We can race them opening day?
