Some randoms, my colt m1911 that my grandfather carried in WWII Europe, and my S&W .38special j-frame. Yes I know the colt is modified but it was passed down to me that way.

Finally got the upper I want... flat top RRA with Colt 14.5" barrel and a permanently pinned Phantom. GG&G rear BUIS and Magpul flip up front sight. YHM Diamond free float rail, etc, etc... It's mounted on a RRA lower with 2 stage NM trigger, Hogue grip and Magpul CTR stock.

Havent posted in this thread for a while.

Sold my Rock river arms Ar15. I am looking to build a new one with M4 profiled barrel and detachable carry handle. Leaning towards LMT lower and maybe LMT upper as well.

Pic of the old AR

I'm a lefty too and looking for gun related stuff drives me nuts!!!

I hear you on that. I've seen articles on "lefty" AR's, but I'd consider it tough to purchase something that would be a lot harder to sell since we're only around 8% of the population.
From magazine releases, to ejection ports, to selector switches, to holsters even - it can be annoying at times

EDIT: That 6.8 linked above does look quite nice though...
Anyone here shot a 6.8 AR? How do they feel compared to a standard 5.56 or an AR10? I know the ballistics are supposed to be pretty nice, but do they feel any different/better? How's the price of 6.8 rounds?

Yeah I've shot one. It feels somewhere in between the .308 and .223. Though I don't think even the .308 has that much recoil in the AR platform to justify buying a 6.8 based AR. But that's my opinion. Everything I own is .223 or .308, so I keep that in bulk.

.223 or .308 can be found at pretty much anywhere, and at any gas station up north for much cheaper. I'd rather have a .223 rifle and still be able to afford to train and practice with it than to have the 6.8.

Ammo is hard to find in your local gun store, and buying it bulk is going to run you about $540 for 500 rounds. (click me)

Thanks for the feedback and I agree with you. Its one thing for the Special Forces community to have this stuff on the government's dime, but to spend my own money I think I'd stick to 7.62 or 5.56 for cost effectiveness. Over a dollar a round is just way too much and leaves out adequate training / trigger time to really get comfortable and knowledgeable of the weapon system.
If I really wanted to spend that type of money I'd just go ahead and get a P90 (those 5.7 rounds were 50 cents a round last I saw).
Additionally, if any of you guys could recommend a good SMG type of weapon I'd appreciate it. My gun knowledge is basically limited to my military service for the most part, and haven't got to play with the various SMGs for anything aside from a friend's P90. Its hard to beat the cost effectiveness of 9mm rounds, so I'm thinking something more like an MP5, but don't really know my options with price and such. This would be more of a home defense weapon / something light and easy to play with (my g/f is all of 5', so something compact is not only the right size for her, but easy for her to handle as well). I don't want to get crazy off topic here, so if anyone has any information they could PM me / send my way, I'd very much appreciate it.

Oh, and if I find some of my pics of before I got out of the army, I'll try to post pics. I really really miss my m4/203 :(
