Sorry for the rant...had to get this off my chest.

Obviously everyone knows this winter has been fucking terrible. We have had massive amounts of snow, road crews are doing a shit job of plowing the roads (at least in my area), and all of the snow that falls stays around forever. Well, this winter I have been scolded TWICE by TWO different postal workers that I need to keep my mailboxes (one at my house and one at my mom's house) clear enough to where the driver does not need to get out of the truck to reach the box. Well, that's just fucking stupid. The road crews in my area only plow 70% of the road, leaving a heaping pile of snow at least 3-4 feet from the curb. So, every time they go by, I have to spend 2 hours outside shoveling the rest of the road off so the mailman can stay inside their truck? WTF I'm so fucking pissed. I hurt my back doing it the last time. My mom's place doesn't even have a box at the road, so the carrier has to walk to the house to do it, but they haven't been doing that because there is snow in the driveway. When we had the big snow storm a month ago, I was sick and couldn't get over there to clear it out, so it just piled up, then froze, then got walled in by the plows. Now, today, when I called the post office to ask about some mail that I figured was getting held (since there hasn't been anything delivered there in a while), the woman went off on me for not having a cleared path to the mail slot.

What the fuck? Weren't there commercials on just a few months ago about the new and improved post office? Whatever happened to the "not rain, nor wind, nor sleet" bullshit? I'm tired of being chastised like a little kid because these fuckers don't want to fucking get off their ass to do their job. Fuck them. UPS and FedEx haven't had any troubles...USPS can suck my dick.
 
My neighbor has their mailbox 10 feet away from the road .. Two years ago the lazy ass mail man would drive his van through my yard and create huge ruts. He caught me mowing one day and said I needed to fix my yard because it was hurting his vehicle... the neighbors fixed my yard and theirs... never fixed the mailbox. The new guy is a lot better about it too.

I want a Kevin Costner style postman!
 
When I explained to the woman that my mom does not have a box at the road, and I was sick when the snow piled up/didn't have a chance to clear it, and now it's all a wall of ice she just said "it doesn't matter - it has to be cleared out" I almost lost it. I'm at work...only thing that held me back. These fucking government workers can suck an AIDS dick. I'm tired of having my paycheck siphoned off so they can sit there and bitch me out. Fuck them.
 
I am so incensed at the idea that I have to go outside and break MY back...after working a long day at MY work...to finish the job of one group of government workers (the road crews) so that another batch of government workers can do their job without having to get off their asses.
 
I feel sorry for the older people in our neighborhood...that same mailman that yelled at me about my mailbox said he was going to start leaving notes at everyone's doors, and I saw him talking to a few other people directly. Someone is going to have a heart attack or get really injured, and for what? So this guy doesn't have to get off his ass?

My mom's mail is forwarded to her house in AZ, but I still get some random mail there (that is the only mail being held at the moment). Because it's only a few pieces, it's not really worth the cost of having a PO Box. Only reason why it's an issue now is because there was an important tax form that I need that was sent to her house. Other than that, it's usually just bills (that I pay online anyway) and junk mail. When he was complaining about our mailbox at the house, it would have just taken him 2 steps more to put the mail in the box. However, as he told me, he "needs to be able to be within arms reach inside the truck or he can't deliver it". Basically "I'm not getting out of my warm truck...fuck you". Well, I would have told him to fuck off, but we obviously get bills that need to be paid, along with letters and packages. Funny thing is that UPS and Fed Ex have no problems at all delivering things right to our door, yet this guy can't be bothered to get off his seat and walk 4 feet to the box?
 
You should of seen the sweet customer service I got when I went in on Monday just to try and give them a heads up about Mr Plow taking out my mailbox.
She told me how they can't do anything about it(hold the mail temp), and how many people it has happened to, and tried to sell me a P.O. Box.
Her head about exploded when I grabbed a vacation temp mail hold form filled it out, and handed it to her.
Told her I would see her in a week to get my mail, and fill out one for the following week.

Not sticking up for the post office but .... does UPS and Fedex come to your house everyday for damn near 360 days a year?
 
But we tend to also get mail only 3-4 days a week, too (we just don't get a lot of mail). Recently, it's been 90% junk mail, too, so it's not like they're doing me any favors. I think there is really only 2 or 3 things every month that I really need through the mail system...the rest is credit card offers, coupon fliers, etc.
 
Tell you what.... If the city wasn't so polite about their plan to repair my mailbox, I was totally ready to "quit the mail" Kramer style.
It's not like anything good ever comes in it anyways... Just bills.
 
Here's a fun one. They take FOREVER to plow my street...and we have a community mailbox...so, she doesn't deliver if it's anything but pristine out. She has to make ONE STOP for 44 houses! Lazy biznatch.
 
Hmm - USPS put my mail in my front door mail slot 6 days a week. Feel sorry for you suckers with street-side mail boxes.
 
I’m wondering about the services as well…I shipped a package last Thursday 2 day to Chicago, so it should be delivered Saturday the lady told me, the receipt says, and the tracking information says.
Today is Wednesday, almost a week later and it still hasn’t arrived. Not sure what all I can do now. On their site is says please wait 5 days before complaining about something sent for 2 day priority.

Oh, did you want any stamps???
