What does the Uno allow you to do?

It's a micro controller with a lot of uses. It's programmed in C and can utilize all kinds of different sensors, motors, etc. You can interface it with a PC or Mac, flash your program to it, and run it from a battery or wall wart. There are tons of little projects out there. You can run a home security system, 3D printers, autonomous GPS-guided drones, RC cars...lots of things. There are GPS modules, barometric pressure sensors, proximity sensors, temp sensors, weight sensors, IR sensors, lasers, flame sensors, knock sensors, magnetic sensors, etc.
