You snooty bastards and your fly fishing . Too good to use a bait caster like the rest of us? :D

 I still use a spinning rod from time to time, but I've always fly fished since I was a kid. I'm quickly learning that the higher end fly shops dont have price tags, and that isn't a problem for most of the patrons. It still is for me however. :faint:

It's been that way for years. I remember when I first stepped into the Orvis store in downtown Rochester 20 some years ago....looked, drooled, and walked out .

I was lucky enough to buy two of my rods and reels from someone I worked with a while back for pennies on the dollar. Only one rod/reel combo I bought new. Orvis actually makes some really decent entry level combos for $150 bucks now. It's not too terribly expensive to get into the sport now.

Good fly line is $80+, and its more important than any other peice of equipment IMO.

I'll have to have a look. Last time I was there as in the post above you weren't spending any less than $1,000 for full kit sans waders.

Long live the Ugly Stik!

 I've got one. Bang for your buck they're hard to beat.

The retractable strap came loose. Half the time I can't even get them loose lol

You just head on a big swell or what? I was in my buddies bass boat on the detroit river once and we tried to jump a swell from a frieghter. Didnt make it and it was like running into a brick wall.

New Vinyl floating floor for the kitchen and laundry room. (photo not of my house, forgot to take pictures.)

Not a recent purchase, but a barely used 1958 Shakespeakere, made right in Kzoo. Snatched it from a garage sale for $15 in the original box.

I got a Perrin intake tube to replace the restrictive and turbulent stock unit

Compared to stock (on left, obviously)

Obviously small compared to everyone else's stuff, but it should help get the most out of the tune in spring. I did originally want a regular black one but they were backordered so I just went with the blue. Looks kind of goofy but I'm not one to pop the hood anyway so as long as it works I'm good with it

That's really cool! Something to show off in the man cave.

I'm half tempted to actually use it...the action is buttery smooth for being nearly 60 years old with probably the original lubrication. It's direct drive with no drag, just a brake. My "newer" Abu Garcia (20 years old) bait casters have the star drag and ati backlash. The anti backlash actually sucks, I like using it the old fashioned way. Set the break, lightly thumb the spool, and let her fly.
