I have been having a problem for a while on my crown victoria. It seems that when the engine is HOT (i.e. after driving in traffic etc. temp gauge is normal 190 degrees) I have a rough idle when in DRIVE and sitting at a stop light for example. I can tell its rough when the passenger seat back will shake a just a tiny bit. Also, if you idle (in PARK) for about 10 seconds or so, then blip the throttle a little, the idle will rise accordingly, but when the idle comes back down, it drops below the 600rpm idle speed to about 545 ish and then raises back up to normal but take a couple seconds for it to level out. The outside temperature doesnt affect it, only the operating temp of the engine.
I dont feel any power loss etc. when driving and this idle issue only presents itself when its warmed up and hot at operating temp. When I first start the car in the morning when its cold or w/e its smooth as silk. I feel that there is a vacuum ciruit that is only operating during HOT conditions rather than cold conditions that is creating this slight rough idle. It hasnt really gotten more or less worse over the course of about a year or so just about the same.
I took the car to the ford dealer and they said nothing looked out of whack when the plugged in some computers but I think it needs an in-depth diagnosis with a smoke machine and looking at the STFT and the LTFT.
Let me know what you think. I would really like to resolve this. I have driven many crown victorias before of friends of mine with all different types of mods, model years, etc. so I am pretty familiar of what it should feel like and it doesn't feel right.
EDIT: I have replaced basically every single emissions control/ignition component possible with little to no affect on this issue. All were done myself with love and care and with a quality part. No "Made in China" here.
