Anyone have a how to on polishing cast aluminum?

Would it be easier just to have it ceramic coated? For appearance purposes only.

No different than polishing anything else. Sand sand sand then hit it with compound.

Pretty much. You can use some flapper wheels for your due grinder to remove the casting pits and then from there you wet sand. 220, 320, 600, 800 and then 1000. You can go further depending on what your after. When your all done sanding, you use a buffer with a flannel wheel and white compound. After that, use mothers or flitz to finish it off.

Good luck!!

A couple tips that saved me tons of time when I polished almost daily as a side gig for several years:

- nylon bristle brushes on a hand drill will beat down and smoothen aluminum very quickly, eliminating the need for some low-grip sanding steps or shortening the time w/them considerably. These come in a few various grit ratings as well

- Brown tripoli or black emery on a flap/spiral wheel is a nice alternative for the ultra-high grit sandpaper, prior to buffing w/white rouge
