please help with 01 dodge ram 1500

i started my 01 dodge ram 1500 5.9 and as it was starting it shut back off. notice that this inside light were dim down and my battery gauge was showing at 8 and not at 12-14. put if i started to push the gas while trying to start it this it would keep running and it would read on the battery gauge 13 but when i let off then it would shut off and the battery would read 8. i had checked out the battery and it read 9.90 and also check the Alt by take the postitive off the battery and it still ran while keeping on the gas. also checked the fuel pressure gauge and had fuel. not sure sure on what else it might be or to check.
 
Sounds like it could be your battery died and then fried the alt... I have seen this a few times...

Switch out the battery with a GOOD QUALITY battery and see what happens... And pull the ALT off and have it tested...

well i will have to go get a battery tomorrow and check to see if thats the problem then work on the alt if its not. thanks
 
if not try changing the coil next ok?

i had issues with my 360 I had too.
changed wires, battery, rotor and cap and come to find out it was the coil...


ha who would have thought?

Unless there is a faulty ground in the coil or electrical system... I don't think his problems are related to ignition...
