Please help me choose a tire for my car!!

Dont know about the nittos, you might have to use a minitub kit ?? Will a 345 fit on the z06 stock ?

The ps2 are garbage for traction.

Hoosier.

I would put the R6 road racing tire in the same class as the hoosier drag radial as far as streetability. People drive around on the drag radials all the time. If you get caught in the rain just be careful, its not the end of the world.

HRH drove on M/T radials, not bias ply E/T streets.

Neither! Neither of those will give you traction on the street...

Ryelou and TRBOBUICK both have suggested this tire as so have I...

Ryelou said even a S/C Viper had a set on and it hooked cold...

Reiko, I am still very worried about using that tire as MANY people on the Corvette forums state that this is an auto-cross tire only with very stiff side walls. If I am able to meet up with someone that has these tires on and actually test out the tires on dry pavement to see if they are as good as you say, I will do it!! A lot of time the best thing I can do is go by word of mouth and the word is to NOT get these for the street.

As far as the PS2 vs. Nitto's, 95% of the people are saying PS2's. I am not only asking around here, but on the Z06 forums and on the Corvette forums. I just wish the decision was easy but when tires costs more than a set of headers, I just want to be cautious and make sure I get what I am looking for.

Thanks for all your input guys. Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, 345's fit just fine on the stock 12" rims. Many people have done it and say it works out great..:rockwoot:

that Nitto tread pattern looks fucking worthless. You are giving up a lot of surface area with those two gigantic grooves running around the tire. A 325 in those turns into a 275 tire that has a real tread pattern.

I say don't fall into the stupid looking gimick tread pattern and go with the PS2's.

Good points. Exactly my thoughts when I was looking at them. But on the other hand, it is almost hard to believe that a Nitto tire would not be a good tire for the street given their reputation and past history of performance (traction) tires, no??

Fadi, Without a dought the ps2 will be the best overall tire. It does do weel also in the rain. Wont be the best tire from a dead dig but it is engineered to give you maximum contact patch. I have them in stock and will sell them for 1000.00 installed with tax included. The ps2 is approved by MBZ, Porshe, & bugatti. Try to find a Nitto that is approved for one of those.

Thanks guys. I will let you know my decision. Joe, if I decide to go with the PS2's, and if I don't find a better deal than what you are giving me, I will contact you.

TIA

GS D3 Gets my vote. Few of the local Vette guys have them, and they love the tire. Not sure if they have the C6 Z06 sizing yet.

I dont remember who, but one of the mags, did a wet/dry test, and the D3's outperformed all other tires. Good luck with your decision

I tried to back my T-bird out of the garage once with snow on the ground when it had F1 GS D3's. It didn't work. I can't imagine actually trying to drive it around on the street when it couldn't even get out of the garage.

Drove on blad i mean below the warebars on 255s in 6 inchs of snow in my cobra

gs d3 gets no mileage

Traction comes with a price...

Greg from PFE had D3's on his car at grattan Monday and they were pretty sticky imo. He said they work very well in the wet too because of the tread pattern.

I just went from michelins to GS D3 last week and my best G-tech time on a particular stretch of road near Grass Lake improved by 3/10s (and 3mph). Very happy with those tires. :D

I looked around yesterday when the topic came up. The tires he asked about and the Hoosiers are the only ones in the size 345/30/19.

No joke, on my T-bird I had gone from som BFG Radial T/As, got new wheels and GS D3's, I know the tires aren't in the same class, but the GS D3's honestly had more grip in the rain than the Radial T/A's did when it was dry.

The D3's really are great tires. Good dry grip, exceptional wet grip, somehow the tires that beat them in dry grip still lose to them under dry braking. They're quiet as hell, they run smooth. I really liked the set I had and regretted that I cheaped out and tried another tire when the wore out because the tire I replaced them with was no where near as good. And as far as the mention of the magazine that did the test that the GS D3s outperformed the other tires, pick a magazine that has done a tire test with them, any magazine. I think they always get the same results.

Thanks guys. I will let you know my decision. Joe, if I decide to go with the PS2's, and if I don't find a better deal than what you are giving me, I will contact you.

IN the nicest way possable : For a guy with a 70,000 car , i cant believe 1000 bucks for tires is scaring you !!! :)

As for a stiff sidewall : ANY tire will have a softer sidewall than a 30 series RUNFLAT. I have had the hoosiers in my hand and i can tell you that the sidewall was a lot softer than i thought it would be.

As from a traction standpoint: The mich has a treadwear of 220 which means the compound is harder than the 00 treadwear of the goodyears.

The hoosier will last about 5000-10000 miles. The mich will last between 15,000 and 20,000 and you will hate them.

You have been trying to convince me to purchase the Hoosiers for a while now. How about you let me drive a car with them on to see for myself that way I can purchase the tires right there and then if I like them..:)

Just look at the damn viper they put them on. That should be a dead give-a-way on how good they hook and work in the street

I have never seen it for myself. I only heard about it.

If these tires are so great and they have them in stock, I don't see the huge deal in letting me come down to check them out..:icon_wink. If I like them, I will buy them. Simple..

But if for some reason they don't like them, they have a used set of tires to try to sell? Seems unlikely they'd have them in stock but IDK.
