Places to Repair / Mod Exhaust on my Caprice Wagon

Hello All,

I have a 1992 Chevy Caprice Wagon with a 305 TBI engine. Issue I have is that the exhaust needs to be worked on. When I was out of state I had a good friend take a look and noted the Y-pipe and Cat will need to be taken care of. The idea came to me from some friends to get the exhaust done, but without the Cat. The idea of spending an arm and leg on just the Cat is annoying. Talking with the guys at my local parts store, I was pointed in this direction for help. He inidicated that there are people around that can do this kind of work. Only piece I would need put back is to a location on the Driver's y-pipe for the O2 sensor.

Does anyone have any guidance, info , recommendations and the like for places that will do this kind of work? Thanks for any and all help.

I friend of mine used to work at a muffler shop & instead of keeping
the old Y-pipe he would drill a hole & weld a bung onto the new pipe to mount the o2 sensor.
I don't think a licensed shop is allowed to remove the converter, but if you happened to knock it off on the way to the shop I think that clears them legally.

they can't legally remove it, but they can just not install one if it didn't come in with one
