Piston to valve clearance

so Im getting ready to toss my motor together and want to check this along with measure up for pushrods. Only thing is I have a hydraulic lifter so I wont be able to just turn the motor over it will collaspe the lifter correct ? So I was wondering what people use for a light load spring to check this ? Is there a special spring or .... ?

well looks like google is more helpful then the couple machine shops i called on the weekend lol. I called one place and got a respond of OHHHH NOOOO I dont have anything like that....

they do make checker springs and they also make solid lifters that slide along the cam lobe.

I got my springs from the hardware store for $1.50 total. Check out your local hardware store.

I've made them out of some scrap wire I found laying around. No idea what it was from though.
