Looking for someone that can assist with trouble shooting.
I have a MSI GTX980 Gaming (With appropriate system to match) and just purchased a new 4k TV. Being that both support HDMI 2.0 and I have a Platinum level HDMI cable for UHD, I figured it would be pretty simple to connect. But for some reason, I can only hit 30hz in any resolution. Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

The HDMI cable has to be 2.0 in order to work at 60Hz. Earlier revisions only go to 30Hz. Have any other cables you could try?

I have a pretty basic HDMI cable and mine seams to perform just fine.. isn't a 2.0 a 2.0 ? Am I missing something.

I had to buy a 50 footer lol

I am sure a 2.0 is a 2.0, but I wanted to make sure I was all set and the cable wasn't the issue. I only have one HDMI port on the video card. All drivers are up to date as of 2 hours ago. TV is up to date as of yesterday. Only thing of note is the message that said my TV software was more up to date than the files from the Philips server. Other than that, I am not sure. All 3 HDMI ports on the TV are all 2.0 as well.

found the solution by random chance. HMDI mode was in legacy which down coverts the TV HDMI port to 1.2. Changed it to normal and problem solved.
I am tempted to test my old HDMI cable and see if I can take this $80 monster back lol

1st lesson in Life. Do not buy Monster Cables ever!!! Goto Monoprice.com or buy them online. Monster is a Ripoff.

Damn they are cheap. Never heard of them before. Looks like I have a new cable source, thanks.

Sadly, cable wasn't the issue. Just my ignorance. I will definitely be getting that refund on the cables though. Thanks

the markup is like 3 times if I remember right. The real issue with monster cable is they spend more on making the product look good then the wire itself.

I usually make my own, Canare star quad cable and Switchcraft RCA plugs are cheap. Most cable companies simply dress up the widely available bulk wire and crank the price up anyway. I like Monoprice cables, but a lot of times theirs is stiff RG6 that you could hang a heavy Carhartt with.
